Gravel driveway and ample parking space
Immaculate, private garden • orchard
In all about 0.32 acres.
Built of part-rendered stone under a slate roof, Babingtons is approached via a gravel driveway that skirts around both the beautifully presented front garden, and the orchard with its views to the Cheviot Hills in the distance. The front door opens into a spacious entrance hallway. A large store to the right provides ample space for walking boots, coats, umbrellas, chest deep freeze and has two cupboards, chest of drawers and shelving. It could also be used as a home office or as an additional bedroom if required. Moving into the carpeted inner hall, and to the right, lies the main living and reception areas of the property. The south-facing sitting room connects to the outside terrace by sliding doors and is a warm and comfortable retreat with fabulous panoramic views of the immaculate gardens, and the Cheviot Hills beyond. With a classic cottage interior, the focal point is a stone-built original log fireplace set underneath an oak mantle. Next door is the dining room which comfortably seats ten people. Opposite, is an attractive and well-laid-out modern kitchen with an electric Everhot range cooker.
There are four double bedrooms, three of which have a southerly aspect Breaking up the three double bedrooms on the south side of the home is a second living room. With an original cast iron fireplace and oven, and a space-saving one-wall kitchen hidden behind custom-made cabinetry, this provides the versatility for a separate, self-contained annex if required. Completing the internal accommodation are three bathrooms (all with showers). Outside are two stores, one of which includes space for a washing machine and tumble dryer, upright deep freeze and shelving. For the last twenty years Babingtons has been managed as a hugely successful holiday cottage; it would also make a wonderful home.
Gardens and Grounds
The cottage is approached by a gravel driveway, owned by Babingtons Cottage, that allows parking for up to 8 vehicles. The neighbours have right of access, but not to park in the driveway. At the front of the property, the picture-perfect garden visited by an array of wild birds, is framed by beech hedges. Well-tended with a lush lawn and well-stocked beds, it is a wonderful space to unwind and take in the breath-taking scenery. At its heart is an orchard boasting a variety of fruit trees including pear, damson, and apple which in season are abundant with blossoms and fruit. The rear garden is a spacious south-facing sanctuary with stunning views of the majestic Cheviot Hills and the surrounding landscape. Here you can enjoy alfresco dining on the sandstone terrace.
