An outstanding Grade II listed Cotswold stone 'Arts & Crafts' house on the edge of Minchinhampton Common.

Description

Bowman’s Green is an outstanding Grade II listed family home with a two acre garden on the edge of the ever popular Minchinhampton Common. This Cotswold stone ‘Arts & Crafts’ house is a fine example of the arts and crafts movement, which has recently been updated throughout. It has been a much loved family home offering spacious accommodation over two floors.

On the ground floor there are three large reception rooms, an inner hall, utility room, two cloakrooms and a kitchen breakfast room. Upstairs there are six double bedrooms and two bathrooms. The entire house is flooded with natural light thanks to its south facing orientation.

The garden and location of the house are of particular merit. The garden is approximately two acres and combines a range of mature trees, formal borders, vegetable garden and an orchard area. In addition there is a large wooded area on the western side which gives complete privacy of the entire garden.

There is a large garage, outbuildings, garden stores and parking. The house benefits from views onto the common and is located at the end of a discreet private road which provides direct access onto the common.

Location

Bowman’s Green is on the edge of Minchinhampton Common, which is one of The Cotswolds’ lesser known gems. A charming and historic market town partially surrounded by some of the most beautiful common land in England.

It also retains a wide range of shops and amenities including a post office, library, a selection of restaurants and coffee shops, well regarded butcher, chemist, doctor’s surgery, general stores and a church. Further facilities are available in Nailsworth which also offers a supermarket, superb delicatessen and restaurant, a gastro bakery and garden centre.

There is a Waitrose supermarket in Stroud as well as the highly regarded weekly farmer’s market. The area is served with both private and state schools including Beaudesert Park School on Minchinhampton Common, approximately half a mile away, the Marling School, Stroud High School for girls and Wycliffe College in Stonehouse, as well as the Ladies College and Cheltenham College.

There are many and varied recreational activities in the area including racing at Cheltenham and Chepstow, gliding at Aston Down, and polo at Cirencester Park and Aston Down. Casual golfers will enjoy the Minchinhampton golf course where players need to avoid the free roaming cattle.

On the opposite side of the town are the two new courses at Minchinhampton Golf Club, one with a parkland style and the other with links characteristics.

Communications are excellent with rail services available from Stroud and Kemble stations, connecting with London Paddington. The journey time being about one and a half hours. Road networks radiate through the region to the larger centres of Cheltenham, Gloucester, Swindon. The motorway network (M4 and M5) provides fast road links to Bristol, London and The Midlands.
