Features and description

Owletts

A Charles II House, set in the idyllic Kent countryside, Owletts was once the family home of the Architect Sir Herbert Baker, who gifted the property to the National Trust following his death in 1946.

A red brick Kentish house dating from the 17th Century, the property was built for Bonham and Elizabeth Hayes and was completed in 1684. Owletts contains numerous historic architectural features with later influences from Sir Herbert Baker. The house is owned by the National Trust and contains some of their collection. The main Mansion House is available to let as a private residential dwelling.

Tenancy

Owletts will be let on an Assured Shorthold Tenancy for an initial term of twelve months, with a view to a longer term letting if agreeable to both parties, following the end of the initial term. The rent will be payable monthly in advance. The tenants will be responsible for all normal outgoings, including Council Tax and services.

Licences

Any Operation Licences at the property will be the responsibility of the tenant.

Repairs

The National Trust will retain responsibility for structural repairs and external decorations. The tenant will be responsible for internal repairs and decoration as highlighted in the draft Tenancy Agreement.
