A compact commercial spruce woodland approaching maturity providing future income potential and amenity close to the Central Scotland coastline
Description
The wood lies a short distance inland from the coast near Helensburgh, west of Glasgow.
With nearby A roads and recent felling in the adjacent property, the site has proven use for the production and extraction of timber to a range of timber milling and processing facilities serving the west.
Blackthird Wood extends to 52.56 hectares on a south-east facing hillside a short distance inland from the coast. The site was planted in 1995 with mainly Sitka Spruce which is now approaching maturity at 28 years old. The current productive timber area is 32.91ha (63%) and much of this was respaced, with the resulting timber being of good form and straightness. Growth rates are good, benefiting from the coastal climate and sloping ground. The weighted average Yield Class taken from the compartment records is YC17, but recent inspection suggests parts are growing at much higher YC.
Acreage: 129.87576 Acres
Directions
From Glasgow and the east follow the A82 towards Helensburgh. Continue through Dunbarton to Cardross, turning right onto Darleith Road. Follow this all the way to the property entrance.
