Description

Located in the heart of the Surrey Hills, Millhanger Farmhouse is an 11,398 square foot Arts and Crafts style house. Meticulously designed by the highly renowned designers and architects at Finchatton and Yiangou, the property sits within 35 acres and will include expansive Arts and Crafts gardens and courtyard. Accessed from a private drive, the house is set well back from the main road in an elevated position with extensive rural views. The house combines family living with entertaining and will feature a drawing room, morning room, dining room, informal dining room, family snug, six bedrooms, kitchen, pantry, boot room, double garage and staff flat.

Millhanger Farm occupies a rural position between the villages of Dunsfold and Chiddingfold. The old village of Dunsfold is traditionally laid out with an attractive green, church, cricket club, local pub and village shop. Chiddingfold is an equally picturesque village with several pubs, a well renowned butcher’s shop, village shop and a coffee shop. There is a wider range of local amenities available at Godalming, including a train station and a Waitrose supermarket; and in the county town of Guildford with its cobbled high street, extensive shops, theatres, cinema and train station. Regular and direct trains run to London Waterloo from mainline stations at Godalming (from 48 minutes) and Guildford (from 35 minutes) and the area is well served by main roads, with the nearby A3 connecting northbound to the M25 and London, and southbound to the coast. Heathrow and Gatwick airports can be reached via the A3, M25 and M23 respectively.

The nearest private airport is at Farnborough. Dunsfold lies in an area known as The Weald, between the North and South Downs, on the edge of the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The surrounding Surrey and Sussex countryside is amongst the most beautiful in the South East and affords splendid lifestyle opportunities. There are extensive networks of footpaths and bridlepaths in the vicinity and across the wider surrounding area. For equestrians, there are numerous well known venues accessible from Millhanger Farm, such as Hickstead (approx. 27 miles), Burningfold Polo Club (approx. 1.2 miles), Cowdray Park Polo Club (approx. 12 miles) and there is racing at Goodwood (approx 23 miles), Epsom, Sandown Park, Kempton Park and Lingfield. All times and distances are approximate.

Location

Dunsfold is situated on the southern edge of the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a short distance from the Sussex border. Dunsfold is the archetypal English rural village with its green and village cricket pitch, community run store, Post Office, public house, village hall, 13th century church and ponds. The village offers a regular bus service to Guildford.

Nearby Chiddingfold has excellent amenities with pubs, local stores, coffee shop, church and primary school. Other popular pubs in the area are The White Horse in Hascombe and the Noah’s Ark Inn in Lurgashall.

Haslemere, Godalming, Cranleigh and Petworth are all close by offering good local facilities both for shopping and dining. More comprehensive shopping and dining can be found in Guildford, which is only 12 miles away. A fast train service into London Waterloo runs from Godalming (about 7.5 miles away) with journey times from 39 minutes.

There are excellent schools in the area, including Aldro, St Hilary’s. St Catherine’s at Bramley, Cranleigh, Priorsfield, Charterhouse, Guildford High School, Tormead, The Royal Grammar School and King Edward’s at Witley.

There are popular golf courses found locally at West Surrey GC and Bramley GC. Horse racing is at Goodwood, polo at Cowdray Park, and sailing at Chichester Harbour. The surrounding area is also renowned for its network of bridleways and footpaths and offers many opportunities for country pursuits.
