Description

The Old Bakehouse was as its name suggests, the former bakery and old post office in the village (together with a house) dating back to c.1830 with later additions in c.1880. Over the years the property has evolved with modern touches while also retaining a wealth of character features. The current owner has also carried out a sympathetic renovation and refurbishment to produce an impressive main home together with the potential for two attached self-contained cottages. These are currently used as holiday lets although offer the flexibility for use for an extended family, friends etc.

Main House Ground Floor
A welcoming front door leads into the reception room of the main house with a polished wood floor and the warm focal point of a wood burning stove. Double French doors lead through to the large kitchen dining room that has an attractive part quarry tiled and part polished wood floor, fitted cupboards and space for appliances. Impressive doors lead off to the front terraced forecourt including a stable door to bring the ‘outside in’.

First Floor
Stairs rise up from the kitchen dining room to the main house first floor, passing impressive exposed roof timbers above the staircase to a polished wood floor landing. Here there are two bedrooms, one again with polished wood floor, striking roof timbers and the doorway that was the old bakery loft loading door to outside. These bedrooms share the use of a sumptuous bathroom with bath and separate shower. Adjacent is a utility room with door to outside.

Mid Terrace Cottage Ground Floor
This cottage has its own front door entrance from the terraced forecourt that leads into a lobby that in turn opens into the large living room with a warm wood burning stove. A doorway leads through to the adjoining fitted kitchen diner with attractive painted stone wall and half wood panelling. A doorway leads through off the kitchen to the main house reception room if required.

First Floor
Stairs rise up to the first floor that include two bedrooms and a separate shower room. If required a doorway connects the principal bedroom and bedroom three.

End Terrace Cottage Ground Floor
The front entrance door opens into the kitchen dining living room with smart fitted kitchen and a cosy wood burning stove.

First Floor
Stairs rise up to the first floor that includes two further bedrooms and a separate shower room. If required, a doorway opens from the shower room to bedroom four.

Externally
The property is set in about 0.33 acres (stms) – subject to measured survey and includes a terraced courtyard to the front, off-road parking area, tiered garden areas, mature trees, shrubs, bushes and flower borders, covered decked area with a hot tub. There is also cosy garden lodge cabin/studio for friends and family to use and a second cabin that is used as an extra utility room.
