The Priory is Grade II* listed of particular historical significance. The House is believed to have been constructed in the 14th century and is thought to be a former monastic grange, part of the Manor of Steventon. The Manor of Steventon was given to a part of an abbey in Normandy by King Henry I. The Manor was then leased to tenants during the 14th century, with ownership later transferred to Westminster Abbey. Of interest, the adjacent cottages to The Priory were endowed to The National Trust by a group of female philanthropists called The Fergusons Gang. The Fergusons Gang kept their identity secret and delivered funds and legacies in rather spectacular ways.
The property itself is a fascinating period house with flexible accommodation; it is in need of some updating; however, it will make for the most wonderful family home.
Adjoining and accessed from the house is a wonderful party barn suitable for a variety of different uses. The gardens are a particular feature of The Priory, with lavender and rose walks, an orchard, a croquet lawn, and a wild garden leading to the Steventon brook. Within the grounds are also several period stores, a conservatory, and a separate garage barn adjacent to the electric entrance gates. Approached off the main drive, there is also a former tithe barn now converted into a heated indoor swimming pool with full-length windows overlooking the gardens.

The Priory sits in a very attractive, hidden part of the village of Steventon. It is a thriving community with a primary school, many public houses, a small supermarket, and a cricket club. The area is particularly sought-after due to its proximity to Oxford, Abingdon and Didcot. The house is also ideally situated for easy access to Harwell and Culham Science Parks, together with the A34.
