BUILT IN THE EARLY 1800’S THIS ATTRACTIVE GRADE II HOUSE IN A SMALL HAMLET ON THE NORTH COAST OF CORNWALL OFFERS VERSATILE ACCOMMODATION WITH SEA VIEWS.

Built originally as a Count House, where the mine captain lived and the accounts were kept, it was here that adventurers, the investors in the mine met. The Wheal Gertrude mine was not the success that was hoped for and ceased production in 1828. In the following decade Mingoose Villa became a Kiddley-wink, licensed to sell beer but a wink to the landlord would produce brandy hidden in a kettle. From 1847 it turned into the vicarage for the New Church in Mount Hawke and for 40 years a succession of 6 vicars lived at the property. The current owner has enjoyed the property for over 60 years and describes it as always being a happy house.

ACCOMMODATION

The front door leads into an entrance porch and then into the hall which has a tiled floor. Off the entrance hall is a generous study, sitting room with open-fire and a dining room with flag slate floors and a magnificent fireplace. A scullery connects through to the working kitchen. There are five bedrooms on the first floor. There is also a family bathroom.

COTTAGE

The detached one bedroomed cottage includes a kitchen, sitting room with access to the garden, shower room and a generous bedroom on the first floor. There are electric storage heaters throughout.

THE LOCATION

Mingoose is a pretty little hamlet approximately 1.5 miles from St Agnes with footpaths leading to the beach at Chapel Porth, or into the surrounding countryside. The property has views down the valley to the sea. St Agnes, with primary schooling, offers a wonderful array of local facilities including independent bars, cafes, and bistros a doctor’s surgery and dentist with butchers, bakers and local convenience stores. The Cathedral City of Truro, approximately 8.8 miles, has a comprehensive range of shopping, leisure, and educational facilities. It is the main administrative centre for Cornwall. There is a mainline rail link to London Paddington. Newquay Airport approximately 16.4 miles distant provides regular flights to London and other European destinations.

Jackson-Stops and Staff Cornish branch is based in the Cathedral City of Truro. This office covers the sale of pretty cottages, imposing town houses as well as a variety of homes with water frontage and fine water views on both the north and south coasts. We also specialise in country houses, farms and small holdings and well situated village properties through the county. Our expertise extends from Saltash and Bude in the east to Lands End in the west. As we cover the whole county we find a large percentage of our applicants are open minded as to whether they wish to be based in Fowey, St Mawes or Helford in the south. Whereas in the north of the county we serve many purchasers who are looking in Rock, Padstow, Constantine Bay or further west in St Ives.
