Features and description

DESCRIPTION
We believe Windyridge to be a late Victorian building in origin and most probably a farm workers cottage. We know it once served as a post office but has been extended significantly and a private dwelling now for many decades.
The house occupies a very pleasant, slightly elevated, position in the village looking towards the church and enjoys far reaching views from the first floor. Its elevations are rendered and sit beneath a clay tiled roof, and the interior, although perfectly liveable, does offer an undeniable opportunity for updating.
Naturally you would enter the house from the rear but for simplicity the layout is described via the front door.
There is a porch with a quarry tiled floor which opens into a dining hall, the room containing the staircase and a stone fireplace hosting a cast iron wood burning stove. The sitting room is of good proportions with a dual aspect and an outlook across to the church alongside doors out to the garden. In the kitchen are a range of cream units at floor and eye level, and laminate work surfaces incorporating a one and a half bowl sink. There is a pantry, spaces for a dishwasher and a fridge/freezer, and integrated are a Neff double oven and halogen hob. The kitchen also retains the original fireplace and again this accommodates another cast iron woodburning stove. Off a back lobby is a fully fitted shower room and a garden room/conservatory.
Upstairs are three double bedrooms and a box room or study, the latter with cupboards and a counter top. One of the bedrooms has the old fireplace and a built in double wardrobe. In the family bathroom are a wc, wash basin, large airing cupboard, and a panelled bath with a telephone style mixer tap and shower attachment.

OUTSIDE
Windyridge boasts a generous plot that wraps around all three sides of the property. To the front and midway down the side is the formal garden, made up of lawn, flower beds, shrubs, and seating areas. Connecting the front and rear gardens lies a fenced, wild and mildly overgrown patch before then another lawn. Attached to the house is a boiler room, and a few steps away a brick built shed and wood store, akin to the main dwelling the shed is rendered under a clay tile roof.
At the end of the rear garden is a timber barn/outbuilding and adjoining greenhouse. The barn comprises of two rooms and has covered shelter down the edge and back.
The approach is initially a shared drive which branches left to personal parking by way of block paving and a carport. It is possible to park approximately six vehicles.
