The pretty, rose covered, sheltered storm
porch provides a warm welcome to Oak
Moor Cottage, leading into the snug/study,
which has oak flooring and under floor
heating, a brick inglenook fireplace, with an
exposed wooden mantel and wood burner.
This room brings a flavour of the beautiful
living accommodation on the ground floor,
with an adjacent, voluptuous, dining room,
with an oak floor and a character fireplace
featuring a cloam over, with its original clay
door, and a ‘pot-bellied’ wood burner.
This, in turn, opens into the relaxing, triple
aspect living room, with a superb brick
fireplace and wood burner, with a cast iron
door on the cloam oven. A door leads into
the light and airy breakfast room, a great
space to start your day, with patio doors
opening on to a paved patio. These 4
reception rooms flow beautifully and are
complimented so well by the bespoke kitchen
and walk in pantry with fridge freezer.
The kitchen was hand made by a Cornish
stone mason and benefits from Quartz work
surfaces and splash backing, a central island
with a quartz work surface, a generous pantry
and a wide range of matching wall and base
units. There is another sheltered storm
porch just off the kitchen and, completing the
ground floor accommodation, is a shower
room and utility room, which creates the
possibility of a separate annexe using the
snug/study, utility and shower room at one
end of the cottage.
Stairs lead up to the first-floor landing, with
one large dual aspect double bedroom
situated off, with built in furniture, whilst
bedrooms 3 and 4 are located along the
landing.
At the end of the landing is a gorgeous master
bedroom suite, with built in storage and a
lovely en-suite with wood panelling and
Victorian roll top style bath. The main family
bathroom is an excellent size, with plenty of
storage, a separate shower cubicle and a quality
3-piece suite.
Warmth is provided by oil fired central heating
supplied by a modern boiler, with underfloor
heating in the snug/study, kitchen and breakfast
room, electrics have been upgraded as the
kitchen was installed and the decorative
condition is impressive throughout.
The garden and grounds are very private and
secluded, especially to the rear. The large deck
and fire pit area, with lighting for those long
barbeque evenings can seat up to 52 people,
ideal for entertaining or for large family
gatherings, which is surrounded by a well-kept
lawn, with mature trees and colourful planting.
Further on, a well-stocked orchard and a
kitchen garden form part of the curtilage of the
gardens. A level pasture paddock, with gated
access from the gardens and 5 bar gate from
the lane. It has a field shelter on skids for easy
movement. On the opposite side of the quiet
country lane is another well-enclosed paddock.
To the side of the cottage is an area for off road
parking, with oak framed garaging forming an
open double carport and a single
garage/workshop, with further outbuildings for
log storage. There is an insulated timber studio
with its own log burner, ideal as craft
room/workshop or office with triple glazed
windows, t.v. and separate rcd board, located
within the gardens.
All in all, the cottage and grounds are well
worthy of an early viewing to fully appreciate
the privacy, peace and character
Location
Oak Moor Cottage is located in a quiet,
rural location approximately 8 miles from
the popular coastal resort of Bude, which
has 2 sandy beaches and access to the
beautiful clifftop walks of North Cornwall,
and is just 4 miles from the village
community of Whitstone and about 3
miles from the village of Briderule, which
has a county primary school and a public
house. 3 miles, is Pyworthy where you will
find the local pub The Molesworth Arms,
noted for it award winning food and beer
all locally sourced and also has a church
and village hall.
Whitstone has a well-stocked Spar
shop/sub P.O, village hall and a well -
respected county primary school, and lies
equidistant from Bude, to the north, and
Launceston to the south. Both towns offer
a wide range of commercial, leisure and
educational facilities with access in
Launceston onto the A30, the main trunk
road leading west into Cornwall or, in the
opposite direction, Exeter, its international
airport and the M5 leading to Bristol and
beyond.
Bude is fast becoming one of the highlights
of Cornwall - you can walk over the sea
lock gates (the only ones in England) onto
the expansive, sandy Summerleaze Beach -
you can bathe safely in the sea all yearround,
even when the tide is out, in
Bude’s free Sea Pool.
Built 90 years ago it is the largest sea pool
in Cornwall, and gets refreshed with every
high tide. The Breakwater (built in 1843)
provides a safe anchorage, hence the
original name Budehaven.
From here you can walk along the rugged
cliffs of the north Cornish coastal path and
if you are adventurous you can walk to
Widemouth Bay, the popular surfing beach,
or north over the downs to Crooklets
beach and, further along, Northcott Mouth
and the National Trust owned Sandymouth
beach.

‘We wanted birdsong, and dark skies, quiet

Oak Moor is all of those things and so much
more. It is a little slice of perfection….’
