Features and description

  • Bare Land
  • Lapsed planning consent for a stud farm
  • Subsequently had planning permission for a house and stables
  • Two fenced compartments
  • Used to produce haylage
  • Good access from the public road
  • Equestrian development potential
  • About 42 acres (17 hectares)
  • For sale as a whole
The land extends to approximately 42 acres
(17 hectares) and is made up of two fenced
compartments currently used for the production
of haylage. In previous years, the land has been
grazed by livestock, and is also well suited for
equestrian use. Water to the land is provided by
the Borland Burn and natural sources.

The land rises between 165 and 205 metres above sea level. It is classified by the James Hutton Institute as grade 4.1 and therefore is capable of producing forage and a narrow range of crops. Access is provided through a gate on Kirkton Moor Road.

Planning permission was granted in 2010 for the
erection of a stud farm. The permission included
ancillary accommodation, temporary manager’s
accommodation, car parking, an access road
from Kirkton Mood Road and landscaping. The
planning reference is 2010/0183/TP. Although
this consent is now lapsed, subject to the
necessary planning approval, the land may still
have potential for similar development.

The land is located on the western outskirts
of the conservation village of Eaglesham. The
village offers primary schooling, a pharmacy,
library, shops and restaurants. There is a football
team, an angling association and bowling club.
Bonnyton Golf Club is nearby and has an 18-hole
course. The locality is a popular equestrian area,
with Kirkton Equestrian Centre, which includes
livery facilities and arena hire, a short distance
from the property.

Newton Means is situated 5 miles northwest
and provides a wider range of services including
secondary education. Furthermore, Scotland’s
largest city, Glasgow, is 16 miles distant. It is well
renowned for its architecture, art, music and
sport. The city benefits from great transport
links, including an extensive rail network,
underground, bus links, the M8 and two
international airports (Glasgow Prestwick and
Glasgow International).
