The Property
South Cottage is a lovely two bedroom property forming part of a small collection of former farm buildings and barns in Thornbrough, a peaceful hamlet in the heart of the Tyne Valley. Popular Corbridge is close by, yet Thornbrough remains an idyllic escape with wonderful surrounding countryside. The property is an attractive traditional stone under slate Northumberland cottage and benefits from generous well-maintained gardens that offer privacy and tranquility.
South Cottage is appealing both inside and out. The stone-built porch is perfect for muddy boots after a day exploring the glorious landscape and it also has space for storage and a washing machine/tumble dryer. The sitting room is cosy yet spacious and filled with natural light throughout the day from a triple aspect. A characterful stone surround fireplace sits to one end. The kitchen is fitted with wooden cabinetry at wall and floor level and has a traditional country atmosphere. There is plenty of space for a table and chairs and the dining area is bathed in light from French doors that open to the gardens outside. A door to one side accesses understairs storage.
There are two bedrooms on the first floor, both lovely doubles with a dual aspect. One bedroom has fitted wardrobes. The bedrooms are served by a bathroom with pretty tiling to the walls and a suite comprising bath with shower over, wash hand basin and WC.
Externally
South Cottage benefits from generous and well-maintained gardens. There is a lawned area to the west of the cottage, protected by mature hedging. Stepping across the driveway leads to another larger area of lawn which again has sheltering mature hedging along with trees dotted on the boundaries. Nestled to one side is a summerhouse which is currently used for the storage of garden equipment.
The cottage has two allocated parking spaces bringing convenience and practicality.
