East Lodge, also known as Llety Glyd (which translates as cosy nook, but sounds rather more graceful in Welsh) is one of the original Lodge houses of the old Golden Grove estate. The original encumbents, the Vaughans of Golden Grove, were of royal and noble Welsh lineage, but in 1804 the estate passed to John Campbell, Lord Cawdor of Castlemartin, later 1st Earl Cawdor. At the heart of the old historical estate is Golden Grove Mansion that is now owned by the Golden Grove Trust (set up to restore and preserve the house and landscape) together with further land including the country park and West Lodge which is currently being renovated. The lodge is grade II listed and the listing describes the property as

Mid to later C19 former E lodge to Golden Grove (Gelli Aur) built for the Earl Cawdor. Not marked on 1841 Tithe Map. No architects name has been discovered for this and other well-designed estate buildings squared red sandstone with tooled dressings, plain clay tile steep roofs with crested ridges, timber spearhead finials and stone corniced stacks. Picturesque cottage style, L-plan Included as a well-designed Victorian lodge, detailed with unusual care

The property has been sympathetically renovated and refurbished over the years and is now a popular holiday let. The lodge would also make for a delightful cosy home or bolthole in the country.

There is an option to purchase adjoining land by separate negotiation.

Situated near the hamlet of Golden Grove approximately 1.5 miles from the colourful and picturesque small town of Llandeilo with its quaint independent hotel, restaurants, bars and shops and just 14 miles from Carmarthen with its mix of high street and individual shops, a cinema complex, theatre and supermarkets. The town is also home to Dyfed Powys Police headquarters, University of Wales Trinity Saint David, West Wales General Hospital at Glangwili and the newly opened S4C studios. Excellent primary and secondary education is provided locally in both English and Welsh medium schools. Private education is also available near-by.

The Towy Valley itself is a renowned tourist destination noted for its ancient Castles, including Carreg Cennen & Dinefwr, together with The Botanical Gardens of Wales and the gardens and house at Aberglasney. The stunning coastlines of Gower and Pembrokeshire are within a short motoring distance.
