DESCRIPTION
Burnham Road is a cul de sac at the northern edge of Westcott, the original houses constructed in 1946 to accommodate the M.O.D employees of the nearby former rocket testing facility. They were extremely sturdily built and given generous plots, number 7 being one of the 1946 dwellings abutting church land and providing a charming backdrop unlikely to ever change.
The current owners have resided there for 30 years and updated the interior during their time, redesigning the ground floor and adding both ground floor and first floor extensions.
At the entrance is a porch and beyond the second pvcu double glazed door the hall. There is a stripped pine staircase, slate floor, good understairs open storage and a cupboard. The kitchen has defined work and dining areas, the former with a comprehensive range of cream soft close shaker style units. The black granite counters incorporate a sink and integrated are a dishwasher, Bosch double oven, and a ceramic hob, above which hangs a brushed chrome and glass extractor hood. Space is provided for an American larder fridge/freezer, on the walls are metro tiling, and there is a small, tiled breakfast bar. In the dining area a black granite peninsula comes out from the wall, approximately a third of it having cupboards beneath. At the far end of the room is a lobby, then a utility room and cloakroom, the former with cupboards, worktops, and provision for appliances. A side door in the lobby leads out to a lovely secluded courtyard.
Across the back of the house is a sitting room, completed circa 7 years ago, it is a superb addition comprising a vaulted mono pitch roof and ceiling and two big velux windows, and bi-fold doors opening to the garden. In the corner sits a Contura freestanding pedestal stove to supplement the underfloor heating. The old sitting room is now described as a dining room although with the timber and stone fireplace and woodburner it feels like a ready made snug as the breakfast room is perfectly sufficient for dining in.

On the landing is a linen cupboard and stairs to the loft. The first floor has three bedrooms and the family bathroom. Bedroom three is a large single, bedroom two an excellent double, and the main bedroom suite offers a shower room, dressing area and double doors to a balcony. In the main bedroom is also a tall vaulted ceiling with a round porthole window in the gable end. There is a four piece suite in the bathroom of wc, wash basin, bidet, and bath, a telephone style mixer tap and shower attachment over the latter.
The loft is in two rooms, it is plaster boarded, carpeted, and has power points and lighting, and is currently utilised as cinema and study rooms.

OUTSIDE
At the front are well established hedges and an in and out tarmac, horseshoe driveway providing parking for half a dozen vehicles.

The mature rear garden extends to over 100ft in length and is dotted with trees, including a silver birch, hawthorn, and a beautiful eucalyptus. Most is lawn that has a deep gravelled edge, halfway down stands a summerhouse and from there a block paved path continues down to the bottom.
Off the house is a patio and adjacent that a raised decked terrace given a Mediterranean touch by the rendered wall inset with brick openings and shelves.
The side enjoys a further private decked seating spot, next to a covered store and shed/workshop.
