What we think at Zoe Napier Group

This is an amazing property on all counts, starting with the magnificent main barn conversion and its impressive design, size and space. Add to the mix the location, stunning setting, acreage, equestrian facilities, stables, outbuildings and beautiful surroundings and the result is an outstanding home.

What the Owners Say

Since moving here we have put our own stamp on this beautiful barn conversion to match our needs for family and multi-generational living. The views and tranquil environment are an absolute joy, and for an equestrian themed property to have bridleways on the doorstep, it is the cherry on top!

History & Background

Situated on the fringes of the highly sought after Essex village of Pleshey is this magnificent seven bedroom barn conversion sitting on two acres(stls), and boasting stunning views, absolute tranquillity, excellent equestrian facilities, auxiliary annexe, outbuildings, swimming pool and children’s play area.

This spacious barn conversion provides circa 4,000 sq.ft of main house accommodation plus a further 1,700 sq.ft of outbuildings. The equestrian facilities boast a stable yard with four stables, tack room, hay barn, post and rail paddocks, and a forty by twenty all weather arena. These wonderful equestrian facilities are further enhanced by having immediate bridleway access.

Although not listed, the property is believed to date back to the late 18th century and has been impressively restored and remodelled.

The rural setting for this wonderful home is magnificent, surrounded by miles of open countryside with amazing views from both within and outside the property. From the garden and pool area there are gorgeous views of the horses grazing in the paddocks and of the magnificent trees, gently dancing in the summer breeze, whilst beautifully screening the property and grounds.

Setting & Location

Positioned on a quiet country lane within two acres(stls) of glorious grounds and surrounded by far reaching countryside scenery this wonderful property enjoys a rural setting on the fringes of the historic and sought after Essex village of Pleshey.

Pleshey is a small, historic village set around the site of a former motte and bailey castle that was once the ancestral home of Geoffrey de Mandeville, Earl of Essex and one of the 25 Magna Carta barons. Although the village has traditionally been an agricultural community, many modern residents are commuters, and the attractive appearance of the village and the castle draws many admirers.

The village lies to the northeast of Chelmsford, which was awarded city status in 2012 and offers a wide variety of facilities including a bustling shopping centre and a choice of excellent private and state schools. It can also boast superb transport links, with a station on the main line to Liverpool Street and access onto the A12. It is also circa seven miles from the popular and historic market town of Great Dunmow which boasts an array of shops and restaurants.

The highly recommended village pub (the Leather Bottle), Holy Trinity Church and the Village Hall are the hub of the community, with a general store, post office and primary school in the nearby village of Great Waltham, and other primary schools in Little Waltham and Ford End.

Felsted School is circa a five mile drive from the property with Newhall School circa eight miles away.

Little Waltham 4.1 miles* Chelmsford 7.8 miles* Great Dunmow 7.5 miles* Felsted 5.5 miles* Average train journey time to London 36 minutes* Stansted Airport 13 miles*
