Description

The Brook Cottage is a world away from the pressures of everyday life, a visit to this almost secret and certainly beautiful spot is to escape to ones own private haven.

Seldom can a house conjure such an atmosphere so readily but this Cotswold stone cottage with origins going back to the 15th Century set peacefully in its own 2 acre private paradise does just that.

The property is almost its own hamlet being a collection of period buildings arranged sympathetically through the garden and grounds. Alongside the main house there is a self-contained Studio house, a writing, painting or meditation studio leading to the gentle babbling stream and a delightful Victorian garden summer/green house used by the current owners for entertaining along with a range of outbuildings for storage.

The Brook Cottage is arranged to be the main hub of the 'hamlet’ and boasts a large family kitchen in the farmhouse style with both the formal reception room and snug having fireplaces for wood fires. Four bedrooms and three bathrooms compliment the accommodation perfectly. Presented to a very high standard by the present owner with meticulous attention to detail in its practicality to modern living, blended with its originality and an abundance of period character.

The Studio is ideal as more entertaining space and might work brilliantly for working from home or for a growing family to enjoy an independent space form the main house.

The other buildings follow a similar style and offer flexible, charming and soothing spaces where a large groups of people can each find their own space or come together for celebrations.

The grounds offer their own surprises and adventures with everything for the keen naturalist with abundant wildlife, stone terraces, a kitchen garden, a tree house and of course the peaceful brook that always brings life to this sylvan paradise.

Situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the unspoilt Cotswold village of West Kington is most sought after because it offers the rare combination of peace and tranquility together with easy access to the M4 motorway and the railway.

West Kington makes an excellent base for commuting into London, Bath and Bristol; M4 Junction 18 (4 miles), and there are regular fast trains to London Paddington from Bath Spa (from 75 minutes) and Chippenham (from 60 minutes).

Within easy distance of many renowned schools including, Kingsdown, Pinewood, Royal High School, St Marys Calne, Westonbirt, King Edwards and Marlborough College.
