There is also a scenic train journey from Maiden Newton ( approximately 3 miles away) to Bath and mainline railway services are available from Yeovil Junction, Dorchester and Sherborne to London Waterloo. Also a train service from Castle Cary to Paddington. The A303 can be joined to the north at Wincanton.

There are both state and private schools in the area, these include Sherborne, Leweston, Perrott Hill, Bryanston, Canford, Clayesmore, Port Regis, Sandroyd and Hazelgrove.
