The Property
Woodside is a beautiful traditional Lakeland cottage surrounded by spectacular countryside. The property occupies a glorious position on the slopes of Cartmel Fell with panoramic views across the Winster Valley and the breathtaking South Lakeland landscape. In addition, substantial and well-maintained gardens provide a variety of outdoor spots to enjoy the peace and tranquility of the location.
The front door opens to the entrance hall with the principal reception rooms to either side. The sitting room is central to the cottage. This impressively large dual aspect room is filled with natural light from five windows, three of which feature lovely wooden shutters. Solid wood flooring and a rugged inglenook with woodburning stove add to the character. The dining room has ample space for a table and chairs and a feature fireplace. The kitchen has a real country atmosphere with a Rayburn set in an inglenook with wooden beam above, tiled flooring and a fine range of bespoke cabinetry with complementary work surfaces. Adjoining the kitchen is a rear porch with external access to the top of the driveway.
There are three bedrooms arranged across the first floor. The elevated position ensures that every room has wonderful unspoiled views that stretch into the far distance. All three bedrooms are finished with elegant and relaxing muted colour palettes. The largest bedroom sits to the front with dual aspect and extensive fitted wardrobes. The layout offers flexibility and the opportunity to use a bedroom as a home office if required. The bedrooms are served by a bathroom and a separate shower room. The bathrooms suite comprises bath, wash hand basin, WC and heated towel rail all wrapped in off-white panelled walls. The shower room has a corner shower, wash hand basin, WC and heated towel rail.
Externally
Woodside benefits from generous landscaped gardens with the plot as a whole extending to over 0.2 acres. A large elevated area of lawn sits behind the cottage with a perfectly placed outdoor seating area. Colourful plantings and shrubs run through borders and rockeries that climb the sides of the gardens. There are various stone-built outbuildings including one with plumbing and power that is ideal as an extra utility space. The other buildings provide storage for garden equipment and tools. Thoughtfully designed planting beds rise gently towards the top of the plot where there are further outbuildings and some of the most beautiful views imaginable. There is ample parking on the driveway adjacent to the cottage.
