It is believed that this property was originally an oast when it was first constructed in 1753. However it was subsequently converted into three cottages and became a single residence around 1900. It has been sensitively modernised by the current owners but still includes attractive period features such as exposed beams and brick fireplaces as well as pine and panelled doors. Externally the whitewashed walls, high chimney stacks, Kent peg tile roof and multi-pane casement windows give it immediate kerb appeal.

The house is approached via a path to the rear of the property and the main entrance. This opens into the welcoming dual aspect dining room with solid oak flooring that flows throughout most of the house. It includes a brick fire surround and a log burning stove as well as a staircase to the first floor. There is a country style kitchen with solid oak units and worktops plus a bespoke oak dresser, a Rangemaster cooker and a central island breakfast bar as well as an integrated fridge and dishwasher. The adjacent boot room with a door to the terrace is large enough for a chest freezer while on the other side of the kitchen is a utility room and a very useful shower room. The cosy sitting room has windows on three sides and an impressive brick chimney breast with a log burner.

On the first floor is the family bathroom as well as three double bedrooms with charming rural views. One of the rooms has a very old exposed beam and another is accessed via double doors. The second floor master suite really has the ‘wow factor' with a stunning en-suite bathroom and great views.

Outside includes a large terrace and a curved brick dwarf wall has steps up to the lawn, flower beds surrounded by mature trees and shrubs. There is also off road parking for two vehicles and a double garage on the other side of the lane.

What the Owner says:
We moved here about 15 years ago and spent time and effort updating the property to become the charming home it is today. We have thoroughly enjoyed our time in this lovely house but have decided to move nearer to our family. When we first saw the house, we felt it was warm and welcoming and full of character and that feeling has remained ever since. We live in a very friendly community and even have a Neighbourhood Whatsapp group so if anyone needs help there is always someone on hand. There are also delightful places to go for walks with the dogs and bridle paths for off road horse riding.

Marshborough is a delightful hamlet and it is not far to Woodnesborough village with its historical church and village hall, there are shops, pubs and restaurants in the surrounding villages of Eastry and Ash that includes a Co-op, newsagent, chemist and hairdresser as well as a physiotherapy centre, a good primary school and St Faith's prep school. There are a number of regular activities in the village hall including Tai Chi and weekly coffee mornings. The pretty village of Wingham is also nearby with its individual shops, post office, pubs and restaurants including the Dog – winner of the Great British Pub award 2019 - as well as the Wingham Wildlife Park, an excellent garden centre and the renowned Gibsons Farm Shop for all your quality local produce.
