Tucked away at the end of a private drive in the Harbledown Conservation Area is a small enclave of large individual properties, with this property at the centre. This magnificent house is set in 0.95 acres of landscaped gardens perched on the top of a hill, with views across orchards, National Trust land and rolling Kent countryside as far as the eye can see. It is difficult to describe the time, effort and detail that has gone into the complete refurbishment of this superb property. Once you walk under the covered portico and through the handmade oak front door you experience the true impact of this amazing property. As you cross the oak threshold into the grand double-height reception hall a vast picture window provides a breathtaking view of the countryside laid out before you. The ‘hub of the household' is the vast open plan family space that includes a wonderful contemporary kitchen, a spacious dining area and a sitting/garden area with bi folding doors to the terrace and large windows so you can revel in the views. The luxurious hand-made kitchen was designed by Tom Howley and includes natural stone countertops, bespoke hand-painted cabinetry and a central island, with spacious timber-lined drawers for crockery and pans and a thoughtful niche for cookbooks. There is a Falcon range cooker with an antique glass mirrored splashback, a remote-control Westin extractor fan and a wonderful Fisher Paykel fridge freezer with fresh chilled water and ice. The smart Neff dishwasher and Franke sink are housed in the large bay window, overlooking the wonderful view of the garden and beyond. Adjacent to the open plan family space is a convenient coat and boot room. There is also a fitted utility room (with separate AEG washing machine and tumble dryer) with a side-door out to the back garden, outbuildings, and front drive to give easy access for bringing in shopping and dogs. Coming back towards the grand hallway is a well-appointed downstairs cloakroom and a light-filled study. This overlooks the front of the house so you can see anyone arriving and, as it is near the front door, business visitors do not need to go into the private part of the house.

What the Owner says:
We fell in love with the property some years ago when we visited it and saw the amazing views. When it came on the market, we decided to buy it and renovate it with love and care to become the wonderful property it is today. We live in Harbledown and love the village atmosphere. From your front door, you are only a few minutes stroll to the charming Coach and Horses pub. There are several delightful rural walks, or bike rides along the Crab & Winkle route to Whitstable or alongside the river on the Great Stour Way. Although the property is surrounded by countryside, we are only moments from the centre of Canterbury and can even walk to Canterbury West station where you can take the high speed train to Stratford (for connections to Canary Wharf) or St Pancras in well under an hour. Harbledown is also very accessible for the M2 if you want to drive to London and we are not far from the coast at Whitstable and Dover and Folkestone for trips to the Continent. Canterbury is such a lovely city. With its beautiful Cathedral and historic buildings coupled with its shopping facilities, wonderful restaurants, two theatres, and host of wonderful pubs and cafes, it provides everything you want and more. The city has excellent state and private schools including grammar schools as well as three universities. For those who like the sound of leather on willow there is the Kent County cricket ground while other sports facilities are available at the Polo Farm Sports Club.
