Description

Lomond Brae Cottage is an attractive white-painted bungalow set within generous sized gardens reached by a gravel driveway which leads up to a parking area at the top.

A flight of stone steps leads to the front glazed entrance vestibule which opens into the hallway. This gives access to all the living and bedroom accommodation. The light and airy sitting/dining room to the front of the house has a large picture window framing wonderful views of the garden in front and the loch beyond. The sitting room has plenty of room for dining and is open plan to the kitchen to the rear of the property. The bright modern kitchen is fully fitted with floor and wall mounted units and appliances and there is a separate utility area and WC with an external door leading to the rear of the house. There is also a sun room to the side to sit and enjoy the fabulous views, with its own outdoor access and steps leading to the garden. From the hallway are three good sized bedrooms and a family bathroom.

The gardens at Lomond Brae Cottage extend to 0.5 acres, and are mainly lawned with trees and shrubs around the perimeter.

Note – Lomond Brae Cottage is non-traditional construction.

Location

Lomond Brae Cottage sits high above Loch Lomond in the village of Tarbet.

Tarbet is a charming small village with only a few residential properties, a hotel, garage, primary school, pier and railway station (journey time to Glasgow approx 1 hr 15 minutes). It thrives on a busy seasonal tourist trade and many residents commute to Glasgow. Tarbet was first established when Vikings used the natural route over the narrow isthmus between Tarbet and the neighbouring village of Arrochar to drag their longboats from the sea loch of Loch Long to Loch Lomond. The Gaelic name Tiarbairt means draw-boat.

Loch Lomond, Great Britain’s largest freshwater loch, is 24 miles long, 5 miles wide and in parts 600 feet deep. The loch is home to 33 islands, some of which are inhabited and one even has a hotel.

Some of Britain’s most spectacular scenery is around the Loch Lomond area. The loch is actually crossed by the Highland boundary fault and the physical characteristics of lowland and highland Scotland can be seen within a few miles of each other.

For sports enthusiasts the great outdoors awaits. There is superb hill walking and climbing in the area. The Arrochar Alps include four Munros (mountains over 3000 ft) and six Corbetts, the best known of which is The Cobbler. Ben Lomond is only minutes away by boat. The loch is well known for its water sports including wind surfing, sailing and excellent water skiing and wake boarding.

Helensburgh, a pleasant and historic town just 18 miles southwest of Tarbet, offers extensive services including supermarket shopping and schooling at primary and secondary levels, including the independent Lomond School.

The Carrick Spa at Cameron House is only a short drive down the A82. It offers world class spa facilities, pool and golf course.
