The Property
Dunn Eden House is an attractive stone-built detached property nestled in a beautiful and peaceful location. The house was historically a reading room for the village and is a fine example of this Cumbrian tradition. Today it is a lovely three bedroom home with hugely generous gardens to the rear and elegantly appointed accommodation throughout.
The slate roofed entrance vestibule opens to the main hallway and features a charming arched window to the front and a useful WC to the rear. The generous sitting room is filled with light from glazing to the front and rear. Eye-catching exposed beams provide character and a woodburning stove sits to one end beneath a wooden mantel. Across the hall is the kitchen which blends a country feel with modern touches. There is a fine range of fitted units with complementary wooden work surfaces and an electric range style cooker along with space for a washing machine and a dishwasher. A door leads out to the rear gardens.
Stairs lead from the hallway to the landing and all the bedroom accommodation. There are three bedrooms, all with varying outlooks and light, tasteful décor. The bedrooms are served by the fully tiled family bathroom with suite comprising freestanding roll top bath, separate corner shower, wash hand basin, WC and heated towel rail. Underfloor heating provides cosy modern comfort.
Externally
Dunn Eden House benefits from a large gravelled parking area to one side with ample space for a number of vehicles. The parking area runs down one side of the impressive and generous gardens which are positioned to the rear of the house. At the end of the parking area is a substantial workshop/garage of wooden construction.
The garden is mainly laid to lawn providing ease of maintenance. To one side is a large chalet/home office/craft room of wooden construction with glazed doors that benefits from power and lighting. This flexible space offers a variety of possibilities, including the perfect spot to work from home whilst keeping personal and work life separate. At the top of the garden is a fenced enclosure with an area beyond that has been used to house ducks and turkeys.
Agents Note
The stables and the cattery (wooden shed adjacent to the chalet) visible in the photographs are not included in the sale of Dunn Eden House.
