The Beaches was so named as, in Tudor times, the property was literally on the beach on a fishing quay. The site was historically a tavern, and boat repair yard. As the waterways and part of the Dee Estuary became silted up, shipping moved further way, but the name of the house remains as a tribute to its history.

The Beaches is entered via a wonderful historic hall, with original parquet flooring, oak panelling and a fireplace, with the staircase rising to the first floor. Off the hallway are the sitting room with open fire and bay window, drawing room with parquet floors, open fire, bay window and door to the garden, dining room with original glass-fronted cabinets, and the kitchen with light oak units and laminate work tops. A corridor leads from the kitchen to the breakfast room, and then into a back hall and the office, utility room and a store room. A corridor, featuring a built-in bar with drinks fridge and sink, leads back to the drawing room. Outside the office are steps down to the cellars, which are extensive, and house the boiler.
The first floor has a principal bedroom with walk-in wardrobe, and a jack-and-jill bathroom, currently accessed from the other side via a small sitting room. 5 further bedrooms, 2 family bathrooms, a shower room and a large games room complete the first floor.

Saughall is just five miles from the city of Chester. The village has a good selection of everyday amenities, including a village shop, post office, pharmacy, doctors' surgery, hairdresser, and weekly farmers market, plus a number of good pubs. Schools serving the Saughall area include All Saints Church of England Primary School, Upton-by-Chester High School and Chester Catholic High School. Independent schooling is found at Kings and Queens Schools, Abbeygate College, The Firs and Hammond School.

Chester is a bustling and lively place, with excellent amenities, cafes, bars and restaurants, and a superb range of leisure and entertainment facilities. The city centre, with its Tudor-style buildings and famous rows covered shopping arcade, is an extremely pleasant shopping destination. The city boasts excellent transport links, with an efficient mainline service to London Euston (two hours and four minutes),
and superb road links to the nearby cities of
Liverpool and Manchester.

The approach to the house is via a shared lane, leading to a 5 bar gate to the property, and a sweeping driveway through the lawned garden and to the house, and garaging. The Beaches sits in the centre of the gardens, with mature planting, trees and hedging edging the lawns. There is a tennis court (in need of repair), and woodland with a summer house and meandering pathways.

The original paddock is now incorporated into the garden, with access to the pond, and leading back round to the tennis court.

Fixtures Covenants and/or Restrictions: There is an overage on the 'paddock'. The uplift in value applies if residential planning is secured. Expires 2024.
