The North Star is a landmark building and former Benskins public house believed to date from the late 1800s and located in the heart of the village Conservation Area.  In use as a private dwelling since 1957, this unique detached property is now a bright, welcoming and generously-proportioned 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom home with courtyard garden and garage.  A considerable sum has been recently invested by the long-term owners on a programme of high-quality workmanship to preserve and enhance the charming character whilst combining it with contemporary interior fittings for a modern lifestyle.  3D TOUR AVAILABLE.

Please review the images to gain a full appreciation of this historic property and its many original features.  These include the impressive central fireplace within the generous living room, original window etchings, the re-created copper North Star emblem and many other interesting architectural details.  Recent renovations include replacement timber-framed windows, full interior re-decoration including the use of Farrow & Ball paints and timber floor restoration.  There is also a new fully-fitted kitchen and new bathroom fittings throughout with the master bedroom suite including a dressing room and en-suite wet room.

Additionally the property has a former stable now in use as a garage plus driveway parking which is a rare asset in this setting.  With improvements also made to the electrical, heating and plumbing systems along with the exterior of the house it is presented in beautiful condition throughout, ready for occupation and offered for sale with no onward chain.

Only around 20 minutes by train to Central London, Harrow-on-the-Hill is clearly a very special place, important not only to the Borough but to London as a whole.  Clear views out over Harrow can be seen from  a  number  of  locations  throughout  the  Conservation  Area and reciprocal views  from  Harrow  town  centre  show the  steeply  rising  hill,  tightly  grouped  buildings  and  view  of  St  Mary-s  Church  spire, its distinctive woodland  setting allowing  the  Hill  to  dominate  the skyline  and act as  a  vital  landmark  for the  wider  area.

This is certainly a special place in which to live, full of atmosphere and with a great sense of community and tranquility compared to most of London.  It is particularly well-suited to a London commute with both Metropolitan/Chiltern Line (Harrow on the Hill) and Piccadilly Line stations (Sudbury Hill/South Harrow) within walking distance.  With a choice of independent coffee shops, cocktail bars and pub restaurants to hand there is little reason to venture away, but practical needs are taken care of by a nearby Waitrose supermarket and the comprehensive Harrow town centre amenities.

There are also open spaces for recreation including nearby Church Fields and leisure facilities including golf courses and a Vue Cinema.  The area is also well known for its highly regarded state, private and church schools including St Anselms Catholic Primary School, Orley Farm Preparatory School and John Lyon School within walking distance.

Notes from the owner:
Why we have always loved the house - Unique character and artefacts, enhanced by the recent refurbishment.  A spacious home with plenty of light within a quiet neighbourhood.  Fortunate to have always had good neighbours - residents on Crown Street tend to be long-standing. Central to the village and local amenities on the High Street and Harrow shopping centre. Solid travel connections into central London - 13mins direct into Marylebone, 15-20mins into Baker Street, easy travel distance to M25 / M40 / Heathrow - I have always commuted to work in Canary Wharf, City and Mayfair with ease.  Selling as we have owned and loved the property for over 30 years and it is now time for a change, an opportunity for new owners to enjoy the property as much as we have over the years.  Simply put: a much loved stand-out home.
