Description

Chesham House is a charming Georgian fronted village home,
Grade II listed, with 12 acres of grounds incorporating a coach
house with garaging, stabling, formal gardens, paddocks , and all weather manege. It is an excellent example of rural country living in a popular village setting.

The main house was formerly a row of farm cottages, with a later Georgian front which provides elegant rooms and presence. Of particular note are the drawing room, with
fireplace and French doors out to the gardens, the dining
room again with fireplace, and the homely kitchen with Aga leading through to the breakfast room. There is an abundance of period detail including sash windows, high skirtings, marble fire surrounds and an original range. All bedrooms are on the first floor, with a principal bedroom with en-suite shower room, three further double rooms, two bathrooms and a study/small
bedroom. All rooms enjoy plenty of natural light, and good storage.

The house is very well presented and maintained throughout.

Garden and grounds
Chesham House is the rare blend of rural country living in a village setting, positioned in 12 acres of delightful gardens and grounds yet within a lovely village with an award winning public house. To the north of the house is a carriage driveway, mostly unused but creating a formal setting with wrought iron
gates and railings. A second and main drive to the side leads past the house to the parking and turning area between the house and coach house. Adjoining the house to the south is a paved and gravelled area, with low brick and flint walls and areas of well stocked herbaceous beds. This leads through to entirely low walled garden, with lawn and formal area of garden with pond, box hedging and herbaceous and rose beds.

The lawned area continues to lead to the stabling, with three
loose boxes and hay store, which is positioned next to the
former coach house which provides a further two stables and store area as well as a useful double garage. The coach house could be utilised in many different ways. An all-weather manege is conveniently positioned close to the stabling, complete with mirrors. The stud fenced paddocks are beyond the gardens and outbuilding and the property is fenced so as to be completely dog proof. The paddocks are on well draining
land which can provide year round 24/7 grazing. The arena is a Charles Britton built manege. There is a further vehicular access at the far side of 12 acres.
