Built in 1868, Stevenstone House was a fine example of Victorian architecture before the remaining structure was abandoned in the 1940s. Stevenstone Court was formerly the stables and coach house to the manor house and remains today as we know it, a pretty courtyard of cottages in a splendid setting. The property in question looks out onto what would have been the old manor house but now enjoys fabulous southerly views across the rolling North Devon countryside. The attached garden, part of the former sunken garden of the estate is still surrounded by the original picturesque stone balustrade.

You enter the estate from the South Molton road along the original driveway through what was once 422 acres of country estate enjoying some far reaching views along the way. You arrive at the property in the heart of this rural community pleasantly situated in the corner of a horseshoe of similar properties surrounding a bordered lawned garden.

The house itself is set over three floors offering spacious and flexible accommodation and whilst having been modernised is still a beautiful throwback to the character of yesteryear. The living room boasts a log burning stove and an open aspect to a predominately glazed garden room, a lovely place to sit and enjoy those Southerly views. The kitchen is fully bespoke and built around the Aga, there is even a dresser and plate rack made to match. Double doors and steps down lead into the laundry / utility room where a back door takes you our into the side courtyard area.

The first floor landing is a particularly lovely part of the home as it wraps round the stairs before providing access into two double bedrooms, both of which enjoy a more elevated look at that smashing view. A bathroom and separate wc completes the accommodation on this level before moving upstairs again into the attic room. Used as a bedroom by the current owners it really does add a fantastic degree of versatility to this super space.

A personal favourite of mine is the enclosed walled "sunken garden". A south facing suntrap which is an ideal space for cultivating and enjoying flowering plants. There is a covered lit area underneath the garden room, a brilliant space for alfresco dining or sheltered storage. A high stone wall with arched timber gates then lead out into a side courtyard area. Across the lane is the piesta resistance, an additional 1/3 acre lawned garden, enclosed by Yew hedging and boasting a range of fruit trees. There is a garage and additional off road parking for several cars to place the cherry firmly on top of the cake. This is a once in a generational chance to acquire this stunning home so best not wait to book your viewing tour.

Directions
From Great Torrington town centre leave town heading for South Molton. Go past the Rugby Club on the right and past the turning to Kingscott. Take the next right into Stevenstone and along the private drive. Carry on for just under a mile and you come to a group of houses on the right set around a grassed courtyard where number five can be found in the far corner.
