Westburn Court pre-dates modern St Andrews having been built in the early 1700s before many of the surrounding buildings. The house is shown on old maps dating from the mid-1700s. The original gardens in St Andrews were laid out in long, narrow 'riggs'. The rigg wall forms the outer boundary of the property.
Westburn Court is a traditional period house built of while harled stone under a pitched slate roof. It is a three storey building with lower ceiling heights to the ground floor and higher ceilings and a magnificent drawing room on the first floor.
