Dewsbury is a charming town in the Kirklees district of West Yorkshire, located south of Leeds and east of Huddersfield. Situated by the River Calder and the Calder and Hebble Navigation, it was a booming 19th century mill town. Today, its many old mills have been transformed into stunning apartments and Dewsbury is now a major retail and commercial centre and a popular place to
call home.

In an enviable location, there are so many activities available in Dewsbury alone, as well as the surrounding areas. Dewsbury Town Hall is a great place to start; this impressive grade 2 listed building built between 1886-1889 not only serves the townspeople but is also used in many period TV programs and films.

Directions

From Dewsbury, head south-west on Vicarage Road, taking the A638 towards Wilton Street (B6409). Continue to follow the A638 for 0.3 miles, turning right onto Dewsbury Ring Road. Continue for 0.6 miles then turn left onto Leeds Road. After 0.6 miles turn right onto Bywell Road. Turn left after 0.2 miles onto Rumble Road.

There's a vast array of leisure options in the area, including the very popular Dewsbury golf club, boasting a 18 hole course measuring an impressive 6360 yards. Also available is the Alhambra Theatre, a choice of cinemas, Yorkshire Sculpture Park, and the Royal Armories Museum.
