  • Exclusive development of established luxury homes

Rowallan Castle is a beautiful country estate extending to 600 acres of stunning policies, parkland, ancient woodland and the renowned Championship golf course designed by Colin Montgomerie.

The estate lies just 20 miles south of Glasgow and is within easy reach of the Ayrshire coast and Prestwick Airport. More locally the village of Kilmaurs provides a variety of amenities including a railway station, primary school and medical practice.

Steeped in history, Rowallan boasts two castles; Rowallan (old) Castle dates from the 13th century and is known as the Castle of the Muirs being the birthplace of Elizabeth Mure, the wife of Robert 11 – the first Stewart King of Scotland and Mother of Robert 111 of Scotland. The castle was laid out in its existing form by Mungo Mure in 1513 and was home to the Campbells of Loudoun from 1690 until the late 19th century. Described by Michael C Davis in his book Castles and Mansions of Ayrshire as “utterly desirable” and “only when one actually sees Rowallan does its exquisite charm become fully evident”. Edith Rawdon-Hastings, 10th Countess of Loudoun, was especially fond of Rowallan and spent considerable sums repairing the castle. Descendants of the Campbells of Loudoun are the current owners.

The “new” Rowallan Castle is an Arts and Crafts masterpiece by Scottish architect Sir Robert Lorimer and is the earliest of his three major Scottish style mansions. It is a work of high importance in its own right and is complimented by the stable complex, cottages, a walled garden and the gate
lodge. The castle now offers luxury 5 star accommodation for exclusive use or corporate retreats.

The Glasshouse restaurant and bar is a more recent addition to the estate. Originally the greenhouse for Lord Rowallan who grew his own fruit and vegetables it now serves a wide range of contemporary dishes and Scottish culinary classics and has views over the 8th and 9th holes across to the sea. In addition there is a club house and golf shop. Further information on the estate can be found at .

DESCRIPTION
Planning permission in principle was granted on 23rd June 2017 and full details and conditions are available on the East Ayrshire Council website. The planning reference is 11/0965/PPP. The site lies in the north east corner of the estate, adjacent to Lorimer’s historic stable complex and Gate Keepers cottage.

    Basic: Up to 30 Mbit/s
    Super-fast: Between 30 Mbit/s and 300 Mbit/s

Mobile signal predictions are provided by the four UK mobile network operators: EE, O2, Three and Vodafone. Predictions can vary significantly from the coverage you may actually experience as a result of local factors (especially terrain). Ofcom has tested the actual coverage provided in various locations around the UK to help ensure that these predictions are reasonable. The values shown against a property can be broken down as follows:

Clear: No bars, no signal predicted
Red: One bar, reliable signal unlikely
Amber: Two bars, may experience problems with connectivity
Green: Three bars, likely to have good coverage and receive a data rate to support basic web services
Enhanced: Full bars, likely to have good coverage indoors and to receive an enhanced data rate to support multimedia services
