THE FARM
Tremayne Farm is approached over a former railway line serving the farm and a few other properties. The farm is situated in a rural position predominately surrounded by farmland and enjoys a southerly aspect.
The poultry buildings, originally constructed in the early 1970’s with later additions, are surrounded by extensive concrete surfaced yard areas suitable for outside storage etc.
The poultry sheds were first used for battery hens and later converted to open units for the rearing of chickens and ducks as well as specialist egg production. To the west of the main yard is a separate poultry shed standing in its own grounds of just over 1 acre.
In addition to the main poultry sheds are a former feed milling building, office, rest rooms, packing areas and a workshop. It is considered that the buildings have great potential for a number of alternative uses e.g. commercial, leisure or possible residential development, subject to obtaining appropriate planning permission and consents etc.
The land lies to the north-east of the buildings and is currently down to pasture, contained within a ring fence and benefits from a sunny southerly aspect. Passing through the land is a hard stone surfaced track providing access to various fenced enclosures as well as a number of temporary or mobile poultry houses.
On appeal, planning consent was granted in 1991 for a dwelling, subject to an Agricultural Occupancy Condition, proposed to be constructed to the north of the main block of poultry sheds, the consent also to include the erection of another 120m long poultry unit. We understand that the concrete foundations of the dwelling have been installed.
