Property description & features

  • Tenure: Leasehold
"In 2006, I headed across to East London from Stockwell."
William, the current custodian of this generous industrial space in E1 reflects on his move.

"It couldn't have been more of a contrast, leaving a nice but pretty traditional flat conversion with lots of rooms, some of which I barely used. The brief for my new place was simple: large, and as much usable space as possible."
We'd normally find an owner has a favourite room but for William, they all do the trick and offer straightforward living he was looking for.

"Absolutely; over 1,000 sq. ft. of open-plan space up on the fourth floor and a total of five rooms, all of which have a purpose, which is why I use them all equally".

With a nod to its industrial roots, the main reception space is a generous open-plan kitchen, dining & living room combination with some exposed brickwork, wood flooring, Crittall windows and generous high ceiling along with loading doors. It's a very warm and welcoming environment.

Both the double bedrooms follow the theme of the reception area, taking full advantage of the large windows and ceiling height. Being up so high, there's a great rooftop view and a healthy portion of open sky over the tops of the trees which line the street below.
There are two bathrooms: one for guests, the other a shower en-suite to the master bedroom. The building has a day porter and this particular apartment also has a secure underground parking space.
On a practical level, the building is absurdly close to Aldgate, so if, in these odd times, work takes you to the City, it's just a short walk away. If you need to travel by tube, there are two stations a few minutes walk away: Aldgate East offers both District & Hammersmith and City, while Aldgate is on the Metropolitan and Circle Lines.

The wider area has a huge number of places to see and things to do. William's particular favourites are an authentic Japanese meal at Sushinoen on White Church Lane and the deservedly popular Galvin La Chapelle in Spital Square, serving up exquisite French cuisine from a converted Victorian school.

While you're out discovering some of the area's cooler pubs, like the Oliver Twist and Dispensary, you'll also find that the some of the walks are far greener than you'd imagine. Head down towards the Thames and to Wapping Woods with its ornamental canal for some tranquility.

Finally, it goes without saying that, living in this area, no Sunday would be complete without a walk to Brick Lane and Spitalfields Market with their eclectic mix of fashion, antiques and food.
You might even extend your exploration to Columbia Road and Shoreditch to complete the Sunday vibe.

William has been very happy living in the flat, it is quiet and safe, while working equally well for entertaining yet providing a calm environment for work

    Basic: Up to 30 Mbit/s
    Super-fast: Between 30 Mbit/s and 300 Mbit/s
    Ultra-fast: Over 300 Mbit/s

The data is updated three times a year. The checker results are predictions and should not be regarded as guaranteed. For more information, see: https://checker.ofcom.org.uk/en-gb/about-checker#Answer_0_2

Mobile phone signal availability and predicted strength

Mobile signal predictions are provided by the four UK mobile network operators: EE, O2, Three and Vodafone. Predictions can vary significantly from the coverage you may actually experience as a result of local factors (especially terrain). Ofcom has tested the actual coverage provided in various locations around the UK to help ensure that these predictions are reasonable. The values shown against a property can be broken down as follows:

Clear: No bars, no signal predicted
Red: One bar, reliable signal unlikely
Amber: Two bars, may experience problems with connectivity
Green: Three bars, likely to have good coverage and receive a data rate to support basic web services
