Property description & features

  • Tenure: Freehold
  • A delightful character house
  • Spacious and versatile accommodation
  • Three or four bedrooms
  • Two bathrooms
  • Cellar and huge attic room
  • Great garden and parking
  • NO CHAIN
An attractive stone house with plenty of character and versatile accommodation of surprising proportions, enjoying a large garden and a driveway with off-road parking, set in the heart of this historic village.

This interesting stone house is thought to date from the 16th Century and is Listed Grade II. There are three date stones set into the front elevation, reading 1587, 1691 and 1844, which would probably tie in with the evolvement of the property. The limestone ashlar walls and chimneys, suggest a house of some importance. Within, there is plenty of character, with beamed ceilings, an inglenook and other fireplaces, as well as a cellar.

Unusually for Weldon, the house sits slightly back from the road, behind a pretty front garden. The front door opens to small hall which feeds directly to the reception rooms.

The dining room is in the Victorian part of the house and has a bay window to the front and a cast iron fireplace set into the wall. Adjacent lies the utility room, which has space for appliances and a door to the garden.

The main reception room is double ended with a central staircase creating a partial divide. To one end is an inglenook with stove, and a window with seat beneath, set to one side. The other end of the room has a smaller fireplace, and is perhaps suited to a study area or dining room, allowing the main dining room to become a snug or games room.

The kitchen is down some steps, and at the back of the house, enjoying a view of the garden, to which there is access via a stable door.
The kitchen is fitted with bespoke furniture with granite worksurfaces and a Belfast sink. The electric cooker is set into a chimney breast. There is ample space for daily dining. Beneath the kitchen is a cellar.

The first floor is approached via stairs from the living room. The landing provides access to two double bedrooms and the well-appointed family bathroom. It also provides access to the upstairs sitting room / nursery, set before the master bedroom suite, which as an en suite bathroom with roll top bath.

A turning staircase leads to a vast attic room, which has a window to the rear. This is a great workspace or perhaps games / cinema room.

Vine House has a drive that provides parking and space for the erection of a garage, subject to Local Authority consent. The rear garden is a great size and has a terrace across the back of the house with steps down to the lawn. There is good privacy created by beautiful trees and maturing shrubs.
