Law Cottage, dates back to 1905 and we understand, acquired its name from a previous owner who was a lawyer. Another adnominally is the address, it is still registered as 244 Thameside, as this came from when its original entrance was facing the River Thames. Today a footpath and right of access still remain. Whilst the postal address is Chertsey, the property is now firmly on the Shepperton side of the river and falls under the local authority of Spelthorne Borough Council. This came about from when the course of the river used to meander behind the land now occupied by Law Cottage. This was altered in 1812 when the course of the river was re-directed and the present cut and lock constructed.

The property has been sympathetically extended and extensively modernised, to provide very light and airy accommodation skilfully blending an open plan living for today’s informal, whilst still retaining the separate cosy living room and study. The spacious reception hall is a later addition, providing a useful area to kick off muddy boots and hang coats. This leads into the central open plan hub of the home, with its double aspect open plan kitchen/family room and beautiful Amdega conservatory dining room that floods the area with natural light. The kitchen has been fitted in keeping with the cottage style with provision for a range cooker and other appliances. The family area is fitted with a log burner, creating an attractive and practical focal point to the room. The separate living room has a wonderful feel of a by-gone era, and also has a log burner for those chilly winter evenings. To the rear is a lobby, giving access to a guest cloakroom, study and the utility room that takes care of the laundry appliances opens onto the garden.

To the first floor are four double bedrooms, the master having an attractively refitted en-suite shower room and the family bathroom has also been re-appointed with a modern 3-piece white suite complemented by brick-set tiling giving the period feel.

Location
Law Cottage is tucked away in a secluded position with a semi-rural feel yet moments from this picturesque stretch of the River Thames that forms part of the Thames Path. The local Kingfisher gastro-pub that serves excellent food is within a stones throw and Chertsey town centre and Shepperton village are within approximately 1 and 1.5 miles respectively. Junction 11, M25 is only a short drive, as are other major road networks and rail stations.

This ideal family home is tucked back off the road, in a secluded position at the foot of a gravel driveway. The main area of the garden is to the front enjoying a southerly aspect and is mainly laid to lawn with well-stocked and established shrub beds inset with mature evergreen and deciduous trees. To the front boundary, there is a garage and carport with a summerhouse behind, and on the right hand side is the original wrought iron gate and path that leads out onto Thameside. A path and steps rise up to two terraces accessed from the conservatory, perfect for summer entertaining. There is access to the side leading to the rear garden that enjoys open views and over fields and a lake behind and there are a number of useful outbuildings and log stores.
