"We like to think that The Oven is a unique home with quirkiness at its heart. It is undoubtedly one of the most satisfying projects weve done. We knew this former bakery down its private passageway would make a great home and have kept the spirit of The Oven alive with its fantastic spaces and exposed structure. Much of the original building still exists, albeit weve extended it authentically using the reclaimed bricks from similar buildings. Its now converted to a modern home with underfloor heating, fitted kitchen, new windows and doors, all in its fully insulated wrapper. The overgrown yard was cleared and the newly laid garden is private, south facing and slightly elevated. Its a real sun trap for most of the day, all year round. Priory Road is a lovely quiet street with character and was a real draw for us to take on the project. It hasnt let us down throughout, with the town centre a pleasant walk through the park and local shops at the end of the road. The community spirit is great with there even being a street party for VE Day. We really hope it will be treasured by its first owners."
