Hendrika De Schollevaer is a rather pretty 42 foot Dutch sailing barge, built by JC Akerboom of Holland circa 1916. This fabulous barge has been maintained very well, whilst retaining much of the character and charm, as would be expected. The rear (Aft) cockpit is well positioned to take in envious panoramic views of the River Deben. The delicate leaded stained glass panel, with entrance gained through two small casement doors, leads down into the open plan living space with English Elm flooring throughout. The saloon with dinette to port, converts to a double berth, there is a fixed settee to the starboard side, built in wardrobe with louvre doors and a warming Villager wood burner. The galley area is very functional with period butler sink and elm work surfaces. There are opening skylights and port lights to both sides. The main cabin has a double berth and two roof lights, as well as a fore cabin with two single berths. The bathroom comprises a sit-in bath with shower attachment, wash hand basin and Portaloo toilet. The barge which has a 14'6" beam, is powered by a Ford 4D Four cylinder diesel engine on a shaft drive to a three bladed bronze propeller and is water cooled. The stunning current Quayside mooring is under licence with the Woodbridge Quay Company and can be made available by renegotiation. Potentially offering up to seven berths in two cabins and saloon, this would make an ideal holiday let or Airbnb investment. EER=exempt

Due to her location, she is close to many shops, restaurants, cafes, coffee shops, pubs and cinema. The station is a few paces away, with connections to London Liverpool Street and Norwich, via Ipswich. Woodbridge is a fine riverside town with Marina, Tide Mill and boasts a fine range of services and facilities, as well as excellent riverside walks, sailing and rowing clubs, several golf courses nearby and access to the Heritage Coastline. This really does fit the role of the ultimate weekend/holiday retreat and is certainly full of character.
