They loved the quiet location of Bramley, as well as its good road and rail links, and its very individual style. “It had been owned by a former Radio Luxembourg DJ and was a classic 1960s’ house,” he explains. “It even still had a sunken lounge. We have upgraded and maintained the house, and in everything we have done we have tried to retain its 1960s’ character: keeping its large spaces and repolishing its beautiful wooden floors.” The bungalow was originally a DJ’s studio but was converted into a separate living space by the brothers. This now features an entrance hall and lobby, together with a fitted kitchen, dining room and sitting room. There is also a double bedroom, with dressing room and bathroom. “The idea was to make this into a self contained annexe,” he explains.

Today Bramley exudes a luxurious Alpine ski chalet feel. Externally its sloping roof has something of a chalet style while internally it boasts exposed stone and woodwork, magnificent open plan living areas and an abundance of natural light. “It has been a wonderful family home with so much space for everyone to spread out into,” he says. “The main drawing room is an incredibly relaxing place, especially with its sunken seating area. We also have a second sitting room or games room, which is also a very good size. Very often, however, we find ourselves in the kitchen or out in the garden.”

The ground floor of the house also includes a guest bedroom and shower room, which could be ideal for an older relative. Upstairs there are five more bedrooms and a family shower room. Three of the bedrooms have their own en suite bathrooms and built in wardrobe space. “Again, this has made living here very comfortable for a large family but also makes it easy to welcome guests,” he suggests.Over the years, Bramley has certainly seen lots of magnificent family occasions, from summer days spent playing tennis and swimming in the pool to grand indoor and outdoor parties. “I would say we have had at least eight really big parties here, including a couple of weddings, where we had a marquee out on the lawn.”

Bramley is set well within its beautiful parkland grounds and offers substantial parking space. The extensive, leafy grounds also provide privacy and seclusion, says Mukhtiar. “It all gives a sense of country living while being within easy reach of London, the motorways and airports,” he says. “It is ideal for anyone who needs to be able to travel but also enjoys outdoor living and likes to walk or to go to country pubs. Burnham itself is an attractive and quiet place, with lots of beautiful country roads and nice places to visit.”

It takes just a few minutes to reach the station at Burnham and from there commuters can catch trains into London. Maidenhead, Beaconsfield, Gerrards Cross, Marlow and Windsor are all within easy reach and offer good shopping and leisure facilities. There are golf courses in the area, as well as numerous opportunities to take part in other sports and to enjoy horse riding. “This area is also known for the National Trust’s Cliveden House, lots of good restaurants and various parks and forests to walk in,” Mukhtiar says. “It is a great place to live and we hope to stay in the area when we move. We are only moving now because the children are older and it is time to downsize but this has been a superb house.”

The parkland grounds at Bramley extend to approximately 1.356 acres (0.549 ha). There is a front driveway, which is set behind an old stock brick wall, and an integral double garage provides additional parking. There are side and rear lawned gardens, which are well screened with beds and borders, as well as mature trees and shrubs. Within the grounds there is a detached bungalow, outdoor heated swimming pool and hard tennis court.

Rose Hill lies just north of the picturesque village of Burnham, on the edge of the beautiful Burnham Beeches, and ‘just around the corner’ from the famous Cliveden House, which is a luxury hotel and restaurant in National Trust grounds. Day to day requirements can be found within the village, whilst Maidenhead, Beaconsfield, Gerrards Cross and Marlow are all within easy reach, offering a wider range of shopping opportunities. The nearby Thameside and Chiltern Villages nearby are awash with superb restaurants, such as Heston Blumenthal’s Fat Duck and the legendary Waterside Inn. The property is also a very short drive from the Lambourne Golf Club, with Burnham Beeches Golf Club and the excellent Huntswood Golf Club close by as well.

Burnham is extremely well connected with the M4, M25 and M40 within a short drive and all London airports are readily accessible. Heathrow is approximately 20 minute away. As well as from Burnham Station, there are fast and frequent rail services from Slough and Maidenhead to London Paddington.

Head Northwest on the M40 and exit at junction 2 (signposted Beaconsfield/Amersham/Slough) at the roundabout take the 1st exit onto the A355 heading south. Stay in the right hand lane and after 0.2 mile turn right into Burnham Road. Follow Burnham Road for just over half a mile and then bear right towards Littleworth Road and continue for 1.5 miles as the road becomes Dropmore Road. Continue along Dropmore Road for approximately another mile before turning right into Nashdom Lane.

When you reach the Nashdom Abbey gate houses turn left onto Rose Hill, where you will find Bramley on your left.SL1 8NN
