Oakdene is an attractive detached property with a red brick façade under a slate roof. Located in the quaint village of Bardon Mill in Northumberland it offers spacious and versatile accommodation with lovely gardens in a good size plot. In the past the property has run as a bed and breakfast business and has the benefit of two downstairs bedrooms which could either provide scope for an additional income stream or incorporate into the existing property for more versatile, independent ancillary living.
The entrance porch at the front of the property benefits from glazed windows to either side and an etched window over the door. This leads onwards to the entrance vestibule and the principal accommodation. The spacious dining room and sitting room sit to the front elevation and enjoy lovely views of the garden. The sitting room benefits from an engineered oak floor and a multi-fuel stove which sits centrally to the room, set into an inglenook fireplace with dressed stone surround and a stone hearth. The dining room offers an open feature fire with marble hearth surround and attractive tiled insert.
The kitchen is located at the rear of the property; this benefits from country style wall and floor units with glazed cabinetry and complementary marble work surfaces and there is room for a range style cooker with extractor over. Off the kitchen is a relaxing garden room with bi-fold doors leading to the raised decked terraced area, with stairs down to a further flagged terrace overlooking Chainley Burn, offering a lovely quiet space to relax and enjoy the surroundings. The garden room leads to a good sized downstairs bedroom which benefits from a dual aspect to the front and side with en-suite shower room. To the opposite side of the kitchen, stairs lead down to a further kitchen and breakfast area, fitted with a good range of wall and floor units, plumbing for a washing machine and tumble dryer. There is ample space for a table and chairs and there is independent access via a stable door to the front. A further downstairs bedroom is located to the side of the kitchen with a built in sitting area and this is served by a shower room to the front of the property. A door leads from the bedroom to the store room at the rear.
A staircase leads to the upper floor via the landing. The principal bedroom has dual aspect and an en-suite shower room with suite comprising a walk-in shower, twin circular wash hand basins of tempered glass, heated towel rail and WC. Sliding fitted wardrobes are located off the shower room. Three further bedrooms are served by the family bathroom with built-in storage solutions, freestanding roll top bath with claw feet, wash hand basin and WC.
Oakdene is approached through an automatic sliding wooden gate leading to a block-set driveway and parking for several vehicles. The double integral garage has two remote control roller shutter doors, power and light. A wooden staircase leads to the upper mezzanine level which could lend itself to a number of uses and is currently used as additional storage with power, lighting and a separate WC. To the side of the garage is a carport with storage area over. There are well maintained gardens to the front and side, mainly laid to lawn with perennial planted borders. The side garden offers a wooden lean-to greenhouse, some raised vegetable beds, fruit trees and a summerhouse. To the rear of the property is a decked sun terrace with spindled balustrade and steps down to a further flagstone sun terrace.
