Property description

Offered in beautiful condition, this gorgeous three-bedroom home is perfect for a growing family. Located just over a mile from the station and town centre of Egham, this pretty home has a stunning living room, opening on to the kitchen/diner, which in turn leads on to a rear garden of over 100ft. Further benefits include off street parking and garage.

Originating from the name "Ecga's farm", Egham can be traced back to 670 AD. The village of Egham was an ancient parish covering land totalling 30 km2 in the counties of Berkshire and Surrey; incorporating areas such as Egham, Egham Hill, Cooper's Hill, Englefield Green, Virginia Water, Shrubs Hill, Runnymede, Egham Hythe, and a considerable portion of Windsor Great Park.

Magna Carta was sealed at nearby Runnymede in 1215 and is commemorated by a sculpture by artist David Parfitt portraying King John and Baron Fitzwalter in the act of sealing Magna Carta on Church Road. There is another memorial at the top of the hill in nearby Englefield Green, the Air Forces Memorial, which commemorates Commonwealth air force personnel killed during the Second World War but who have no known grave.

During World War II, American author Theodor Seuss Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss, was briefly stationed in Egham. When it was pointed out how green the area was, due in part to its proximity to Windsor Great Park he retorted "I do not like green Egham". Geisel later cited this as the inspiration for his 1960 best-selling book Green Eggs and Ham and the often-repeated line in the book "I do not like them Sam I Am. I do not like green eggs and ham".
