Haven House occupies an attractive position on Tower Road on the edge of Writtle village. The village has been described as 'one of the loveliest in England' with its picturesque Green complete with duck pond) and Norman church. It has an excellent choice of shops including a post office, a butcher's shop, a delicatessen and a supermarket and boasts a number of highly regarded restaurants and pubs. Haven House is a late 18th century brick house of considerable character but it is not listed. It has attractive symmetrical gault brick elevations, complemented by double-hung sashes with glazing bars in plain reveals, a hipped slate roof and a central six-panel door.
