Property description

A beautiful characterful cottage full of charm.

Reception area, living room, dining room, breakfast kitchen, three bedrooms, house bathroom, off road parking, rear garden. 915 sq ft.

Mushroom Green is a hamlet in the renowned Dudley Wood conservation area and is usually associated with traditional chain makers cottages. The area was originally said to be used for nail making as early as the 18th century on what was common land and part of Pensnett Chase. Under the Closures Act of the 18th century the land was passed over the Viacount Dudley and the workers allowed to pay rent in return for their squatter status being annulled. By the end of the 19th century nearly every property had a working chain makers shop next to it. Although most of these have gone today, there still is an original working chain shop that opens at certain times during the summer. Despite this, the area is protected and has a feel and charm of its own that can only be attributed to its rich historical past.
