The house was built in the 1970’s and designed to have a very traditional look that fits in beautifully with the surrounding area. Inside the rooms are all generously proportioned. There are features such as exposed beams, a large inglenook fireplace in the drawing room and a wood burner in the dining room that give the house real character. To the first floor the main house has a newly refurbished master suite. There are four further bedrooms and family bath/shower room.

In the late 1990s the west wing extension was created giving an additional two bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen, utility room and cloakroom. The main stand out room is the great hall, it’s a vast space with a beautiful vaulted ceiling with sets of French doors that lead to the courtyard garden. The accommodation could easily be incorporated into the main house if new owners wished to do so.
The house is set back nicely from the road and shielded from view by a large hedge and large electric gates. To the back of the house is the large patio terrace leading into the formal gardens and open lawn. Beyond this is a five bar gate to the acre paddock and stables.

VENDOR INTERVIEW
The current owner Amanda says “we bought this house some sixteen years ago now as it was just the right size and design with just the right amount of land to do what we wanted. Everyone got bigger bedrooms, Mum got the superb west wing of the house to herself as an Annex which pleased her immensely. We could keep ponies at home and the house was much nearer to the senior school the children then attended“.

The house is set back nicely from the road and shielded from view by a large hedge and large electric entry gates. “We enjoy a good degree of privacy“ continues Amanda. To the back of the house is the large patio terrace leading into the formal gardens and open lawn.

Beyond this is a five bar gate to the acre paddock and stables. It’s a very peaceful place and a haven for wildlife, it’s fully enclosed so very safe for children. The garden is definitely something I will really miss when I leave. The house is just a bit big for me now.

I love my bedroom and en-suite because I have just had it refurbished, it’s a very relaxing luxurious space. The drawing room is the part of the house that everyone seems to gravitate too says Amanda, it leads through to the dining room and it’s a great space to entertain in with a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

“The Gables has made me a very happy lady and it’s a wonderful family home that has created so many happy memories “says Amanda. “It’s a place that has been shared with family and friends and we have had some fabulous celebrations here, including my daughter’s wedding for which we had a large marquee and open air reception in the gardens“.

“I love this house very much there are many things I will miss “says Amanda. “I love the wildlife here, the trees and the garden birds, the sense of freedom and space this house provides. I consider myself very fortunate to have lived here all these years.”
