Convinth Steading lies only a short drive away from the delightful village of Beauly which boasts a good range of shops, two doctor's surgeries, a bakery, hardware store, antique shops and the renowned Campbell's of Beauly. There is also a railway station. A primary school is available at nearby Kiltarlity (2 miles), which also has a post office/general store and a public house. Secondary schooling is available in both Inverness and Drumnadrochit. Inverness, about 14 miles, has all the facilities of a modern city including its airport with regular flights to the south and parts of Europe.
The surrounding countryside is unspoilt and of great beauty, with lovely walks, riding opportunities and a wide variety of rural pursuits nearby including good fishing and other sporting activities. Convinth lies just off the road to Glen Affric and Strathfarrer, both within easy reach and both renowned for their beauty and grandeur.
In medieval times, Convinth was a large parish, boasting a convent and many homesteads. Now the listed remains of the convent, Convinth Burial Ground, the Old Smithy and Convinth Farmhouse and the former farm steading are all that remain.
The Steading has stood on the present site for hundreds of years and was rebuilt in 1998-2001 as a house of over 5,000 square feet, comprising the main house and the south wing. The farmhouse was rebuilt in the early 1900's, being previously located on the site of the current boiler house.
The buildings, and the surrounding grounds were formerly part of the Lovat Estate. The surrounding farmland was sold away from the houses and grounds in 1995. The whole area is defined by plantings of historic oak trees along roads and field boundaries, giving a peaceful rural outlook and the Belladrum burn runs through the setting, with its ancient alder trees providing a haven for wildlife through the seasons. Otters, Pine Martens and roe deer are regularly seen along with a huge variety of birds and in the spring, the bluebell wood running along the burn which forms part of the property, is a sight to savour.
The main house, south wing and farmhouse are served by the biomass boiler installed in February 2014, with 65 kilowatt capacity. The installation generates under the Non-Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive. Gross income from generation received under the scheme was £8,550 for the year to 24th August 2018.
