A contemporary refurbishment of an exceptional country house in a secluded and convenient setting. Believed to date from around 1930, but in the last few years has undergone a comprehensive remodelling and refurbishment programme to provide impressive, well arranged accommodation, beautifully appointed throughout. As well as underfloor heating there are sophisticated innovations such as touch screen controls for lighting and music, with programmable mood settings for lighting and multi-room management of music systems.
On the ground floor double front doors are set within an arched stone entrance, opening to the vestibule with stone tiled flooring. Further double doors lead to the splendid double height reception hall which provides wonderful views through picture windows and access through double doors to the terrace and gardens. Within the light and spacious hall is a fireplace with gas/log fire and an elegant curving stone and wrought iron staircase sweeping up to the first floor galleried landing. Doors open from the hall to the double aspect drawing room with chevron oak strip flooring, an attractive stone fireplace with gas/log fire, wide bay window with three sets of doors to the garden and sliding patio doors opening to the garden on the eastern side. Off the drawing room is the study/library with concealed sliding doors, bookshelves and storage space.
On the western side of the house is the wonderful open plan kitchen and dining room, at the kitchen end there is a range of storage cupboards with granite worktops, built-in Gaggenau appliances including twin ovens, steam oven, coffee maker, American style fridge/freezer, dishwasher, four plate electric induction hob with adjoining hot plate and grill with extractor above. In the spacious dining area bi-fold doors on the southern elevation invite the garden views into the house. Open to and adjoining the kitchen/dining room is the sitting/TV room with two glazed walls providing wonderful garden views. Behind the kitchen is the rear service lobby, off which is the well equipped utility room, boiler room with twin megaflow tanks, water softener and gas boiler and at the end of the corridor is the gym or the playroom, with double doors opening to the front garden.
On the first floor the impressive master suite occupies the eastern end of the house. It comprises a wonderful semi-vaulted master bedroom which is a double aspect room with great views over the grounds. There is an attractive fireplace and double doors to a large balcony. The dressing room is sizable and well equipped with a range of wardrobes and a fitted window seat. One en suite bathroom has a large free standing bath, bidet, wc and wash basin with marble flooring and wall detail. There is also a separate en suite shower room with large wet room, shower, wc and wash hand basin. There are five further bedrooms on the first floor, three of which are en suite. The remaining two bedrooms together with the other bedroom can be independently accessed via a staircase from the ground floor staff living room. They can therefore be incorporated either within the main house or as expanded accommodation within the staff annexe which includes its own kitchen and separate access.
