The Chapel to the front was constructed in 1828 as Throop Independent Chapel, later Throop Congregational Church and then Throop United Reformed Church until its closure in 2009. The Sunday school built to the rear in 1830 was destroyed by fire and rebuilt in 1866 and is also Grade 11 listed. The headstones and alter tomb memorials to the front of the chapel which date from the 1800s illustrate the historical significance of the Chapel to local prominent families, many of which are still familiar names in the vicinity today. Numerous passers by frequently recall joyous occasions such as marriages or baptisms which took place in the Chapel and, with the older residents, fond memories are recalled of their attendance of the Sunday School to the rear.

The Chapel and Schoolhouse were converted in 2016 into two stunning independent residences by the current owners with careful consideration to their origins.
