Abingdon schools include St Helen and St Katherines, Abingdon School, Abingdon Prep, Cothill, Chandlings and Radley. Slightly further afield, but within easy reach are Wycombe Abbey, Harrow, Eton and Stowe to name but a few. Moulsford Prep School and Ashfold Prep School are also nearby. There is a Church of England primary school in the village.


The Priory is an impressive and significant Grade II* listed village house, which sits in a beautiful position at the centre of Great Milton.

Dating from the 16th century, it is believed to have been built for Dr. Westfalling who became Vice-Chancellor of Oxford University in 1565 and Bishop of Hereford in 1585. Notable recorded visitors to the house include Oliver Cromwell and John Milton, who are reputed to have visited John Thurloe, Secretary of State, during his tenancy at The Priory. The Priory has a tremendously welcoming feel.

A magnificent Tudor arch fireplace greets you as you enter the house and a beautiful flagstone floor hallway leads through the house to the principle rooms on the ground floor. From Oxford exit the ring road on the A40 signposted London. After approximately 2 miles, take the exit signposted to Wheatley and follow the signs into the village. At the first mini-roundabout turn left onto the London Road and continue for approximately 2 miles, taking an eventual right turn into Sworford Lane (signposted Great Milton). Upon entering Great Milton, proceed into the village passing the small village green on the left and continue into Church Road. The Priory can be found after a short distance on the left.
