THE STORY
Relaxing by the pool in the sunshine or serving drinks from the bar in the games room - Wheelers is a home for sharing with friends. The spectacular, contemporary home was built by its current owners for entertaining on a grand scale as well as for providing a tranquil retreat. We built it in 2013 to our exact design, one of them explains. We wanted to ensure everything was completed to the highest standard and that it was exactly as we wanted it to be, right down to the last detail. It is a perfect entertaining home because it has so much space - we even celebrated our own wedding here with friends and family coming back to the house afterwards for a party.

MODERN LIVING

Wheelers sits in private grounds within the village of Ravenshead, with good access to the M1, Newark and Nottingham. We chose the location because it offered seclusion and tranquillity yet was also within very easy reach of Nottingham, he explains. We back on to Newstead Abbey Park, which is extremely beautiful and has a fascinating history. The house itself offers very generous accommodation, which includes six double bedrooms, four bathrooms and three spacious reception rooms. There is also a separate, detached annexe, which has three bedrooms, a kitchen dining room and sitting room. Within the main house, we were able to bring in lots of features that we felt would work well in a modern design, such as the beautiful curved walls that are both upstairs and down.

STUNNING FEATURES

The ground floor of the breath-taking, three-storey home is entered via a grand reception hall, with a central staircase, with glass balustrades, and doors fanning off to all the main living areas. To the left is the stunning, large drawing room, with its triple aspect and bi-folding doors on to the garden. Here the curved wall makes a stunning feature. Mirroring this room on the other side of the hall is the beautiful kitchen dining room, with its stylish fixtures and fittings that include a central island and breakfast bar. Here there is plenty of room for a dining table and bi-folding doors pull back on to the terrace, where there is ample space for outside dining. This is a great area for indoor-outdoor living and could be ideal for someone with a family, he suggests.

MAGNIFICENT MASTER SUITE

Also on the ground floor is a study, utility room and sitting room. The sitting room has French windows on to the garden and provides a cosy space for quiet nights in. The first floor of the house is home to five of the bedrooms; many of these feature the unique curved walls. Three bedrooms, including the master, have en suite bath or shower rooms. The master suite is very impressive; it reaches from front to back of the house and has a dressing room as well as an en suite bathroom. The family bathroom is another incredible space, offering views over the garden and including a free-standing bath.

ROOM TO RELAX

The very top floor of Wheelers comes into its own when the owners have friends and family to visit. Here there is a cinema room for sitting down to watch movies or sporting events and there is also a magnificent games room, with space for a pool table and bar. At the end of this floor there is another guest bedroom and bathroom. This part of the house has been greatly enjoyed - this is where it is nice to come to relax with friends at weekends, he says.

IN THE SWIM

In the summer, however, the gardens come into their own. Not only is there a large terrace, with room for outside dining, barbecues and parties, but there is further seating space around the swimming pool. When the weather is warm we are outside as much as possible - it really is beautiful out there, he says. We also have the tennis court, which has been great fun as there is space for people to sit out and watch the matches. On fine days, they also love to wander over to Newstead Abbey Park, to walk in the grounds and look at the historic building. We do love being in this area and hope to stay close by when we move, they add. It is easy to get to everything we need and yet it is private and peaceful, and there are some lovely places to visit in the area.

SETTING THE SCENE
Wheelers is set in delightful, private, gated grounds, within the village of Ravenshead. It backs on to the leafy grounds of Newstead Abbey Park. To the front there is a sweeping driveway with a fountain, as well as access to detached garages, workshops and the three-bedroom annexe. The gardens are laid to lawn and include a tennis court, as well as an outdoor heated swimming pool and hot tub.

WHATS NEARBY
Ravenshead village offers a good selection of local shops and amenities. There is a regular bus service into Nottingham and a school bus to the High School in the city. There are also private buses to Trent College and Hollygirt School for Girls. Newstead Abbey Park is adjacent to the property and is a beautiful period property which sits by the River Leen and is surrounded by beautiful parkland and woodland grounds.

WITHIN EASY REACH
One of the attractions to this area is its proximity to the M1, Junction 27, which is approximately six miles away. Nottingham is only about ten miles and offers a fully comprehensive range of shopping, schooling, recreational facilities, along with many theatres and cultural centres.

DIRECTIONS:
Proceed out of Nottingham on the Mansfield Road (A60) until reaching a large roundabout, where you bare left, continuing on the A60 towards Mansfield. Passing through the village of Papplewick and as you enter Ravenshead village the property will be found on the left hand side.
