About this agent
Now much sought after, this wasn't always the case. Founder Antoine Lurot first discovered these once-scruffy, often run-down properties in the 1960s when, as a rally driver and friend of James Hunt and John Surtees, he saw their mews garages with accommodation above. Passionate about these distinctive, individual properties – many of which began life as royal stables during the reign of Henry VIII – Antoine established an estate agency in 1971, photographing and documenting 800 central London mews. The first properties he sold were £15,000; fast forward to today, and a typical 1,200 sq ft mews home now sells for around £2,500,000.
