The town has a wide range of shops and local businesses and has good access via the B3178 to Exmouth train station, which provides regular, direct services to Exeter (23 minutes). Exeter Airport offers national and international connections including a regular service to London City Airport (1 hour).
The area also has a good selection of popular schools from both the state and independent sectors including a wide choice of primary schools (all Ofsted rated 2 Good) within a 3 mile radius.
Dating back to the middle of the 19th century, Airlie House is a handsome, unlisted family villa with white-painted stucco walls, double glazed UPVC windows, a tiled roof with deep eaves and an original covered veranda extending along most of the front of the house. It has been sympathetically extended on a least three occasions over its life, most latterly in the late 20th century when a two-storey extension was added to the rear to accommodate a new kitchen, first floor bedroom and adjacent family shower room.
The house has undergone a wholescale internal refurbishment and today it is well presented. It is also south-facing towards the coast and its large, wide windows allow natural light to flood in giving it a light and airy feeling throughout. It has also retained many of its period architectural features including internal doors, tall skirting boards, picture rails and several attractive fireplaces.
The ground floor at the front of the house is split between the large, welcoming reception hall with its timber floor on one side and the sitting room on the other, which has an attractive fireplace at one end fitted with a gas fire. Behind these two south-facing rooms are the family room and the dining room, with the adjacent kitchen accessed through a rear lobby. The family room is also close to the kitchen and has a wide picture window looking out across the rear garden. The first floor accommodation is arranged around a part-galleried landing.
The principal bedroom suite consists of a south and west-facing bedroom with its own south-facing bathroom, all accessed through a small entrance lobby. There are three further double bedrooms plus two single bedrooms, all of which share the family shower room.
Garden & grounds
Airlie House is set back from the road behind a brick and flint boundary wall and a screen of mature pollarded trees and evergreen shrubs, which collectively provide a good degree of privacy. The boundary wall is pierced by a vehicular entrance with twin painted timber gates plus a further pedestrian gate. Immediately in front of the house is a level lawn with a tarmac drive on one side providing parking space for several cars. The drive extends past one side of the house to a brick and render-faced double garage. Beside the garage is the rear garden which consists of a level lawn bound by walling line with a scattering of trees and shrubs. Immediately behind the house is a further covered area beside the terrace and there is an additional paved seating/barbeque area in one far corner.
The property comes with solar panels

Broadband availability and predicted speed
Broadband speed is measured in megabits per second, with the number returned showing how fast the connection is. Each reading is based on the highest predicted speed of any major broadband network for services that deliver the download speeds. The following are the different readings that we may display:
Basic: Up to 30 Mbit/s
Super-fast: Between 30 Mbit/s and 300 Mbit/s
Ultra-fast: Over 300 Mbit/s
The data is updated three times a year. The checker results are predictions and should not be regarded as guaranteed. For more information, see: https://checker.ofcom.org.uk/en-gb/about-checker#Answer_0_2
Mobile phone signal availability and predicted strength
Mobile signal predictions are provided by the four UK mobile network operators: EE, O2, Three and Vodafone. Predictions can vary significantly from the coverage you may actually experience as a result of local factors (especially terrain). Ofcom has tested the actual coverage provided in various locations around the UK to help ensure that these predictions are reasonable. The values shown against a property can be broken down as follows:
Clear: No bars, no signal predicted
Red: One bar, reliable signal unlikely
Amber: Two bars, may experience problems with connectivity
Green: Three bars, likely to have good coverage and receive a data rate to support basic web services
Enhanced: Full bars, likely to have good coverage indoors and to receive an enhanced data rate to support multimedia services
