Description

Mayflower is an impressive, detached family home in a most desirable setting, close to the amenities of Maidenhead, Marlow and Henley while being situated in a semi-rural setting backing onto farmland. The attractive home has lovely views to the rear over the surrounding countryside and the pleasant, green gardens, while to the front the aspect overlooks the private road. Internally the house is well presented in a traditional style, it would benefit cosmetic modernisation and as such the property presents a good opportunity for improvement

The substantial accommodation offers about 3600 sq ft of space across two floors, comprising a range of reception rooms to suit all family events, and five good-size bedrooms upstairs. The ground floor has an entrance hall with two storage cupboards and leads to the formal sitting room at the front, open to a dining room which then connects via double doors to a sizeable living room with French windows leading out to the garden. The kitchen/breakfast room is a very spacious room with an adjoining family room, creating an impressive informal space. There is also a cloakroom, utility room and office. Upstairs there are two en suite bedrooms, three further bedrooms and a family bathroom.

The property has a sought-after, secluded setting on a private, leafy road close to the village of Hurley. The walled entry and sweeping driveway lead up to the front of the house, which is partially tile-hung in the local vernacular which has a Tudor Revival design. The gardens are generously proportioned and amount to about half an acre, backing onto open fields at the rear over which there are lovely far-reaching views. There is a large paved patio at the back of the house, ideal for outdoor entertaining, while the mostly level lawn is enclosed by a variety of mature trees. The property also benefits from ample off-street parking and a detached double garage with workshop.

Location

Hurley is a conservation Thameside village between Marlow and Henley with a hotel, pub, cricket, tennis and golf clubs. Within walking distance via a shortcut path is the Church,
village store and Post Office some days. The community hall stages a pantomime, other social events plus a yearly Fete and Regatta. Riverside and woodland walks abound for dog owners.
Neighbouring Marlow town offers a superb range of retailers, with an eclectic mix of local independent and national names. There are numerous bars, cafes and restaurants dotted around the town offering destinations for any occasion.

Just outside the town, the area opens out to glorious rolling countryside and a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Outdoor pursuits are numerous, as are golf, football, cricket and rugby clubs.

Being a popular location for young families, Marlow offers numerous schooling ranging from prep schools to secondary schools, such as Sir William Borlase’s Grammar School and Great Marlow School.
