The master bedroom, which also has built-in storage, is even more sizeable. Here there is an en suite bathroom and French windows open on to a glass balcony. “This is a tranquil place to sleep and an amazing room to wake up in because of the views,” he says. “The room is spacious enough to arrange as you choose.”

The upper level of the duplex comprises the chic drawing room, dining area, kitchen and study. A staircase, with glass balustrades rises up into the middle of the striking space and there is a utility room in one corner. One entire wall of the capacious room is made up of windows and glass doors on to the long balcony, pulling the view right inside. “This is such an easy, comfortable place to live,” he says. “There is a fitted study area to one side, where you can work, and the kitchen has an island with breakfast bar.” There is also ample space for comfortable seating and for formal dining. “This is a great area for anyone who loves entertaining,” he agrees.

A WORLD APART
Life at Felsted also offers exceptional access to the well-designed road network at Milton Keynes, leading to major connections and the M1. There is good access to train stations, and it is quick to reach the centre of town, with its shopping and leisure opportunities. “I like to head out of Milton Keynes from here too, into the countryside and to some of the pretty villages of this area,” he adds. “It is a very convenient place to live for everything.” Now relocating, he agrees he will miss his exceptional, lakeside home. “It really is a special place to live. In the 10 years I have been here, only one of these penthouses has ever come on to the market,” he observes. “You just can’t find a view like this anywhere else, somewhere with such a beautiful outlook and somewhere you feel worlds away from anywhere else.”
